Here's that little test hunter knife I have been playing with. It's Cru Forge V with stabilized bog oak from @forrester_woods Things to note: 1) Cru Forge V definitely has some heat hardness and doesn't move too quickly under just a hand hammer 2) It grind resists like a hardened high carbon stainless 3) I have a feeling it will have some very high edge retention 4) Stabilized bog oak is amazing and you should pick some up 5) I should do more planning when I actually start doing integrals for real and probably pick up some tooling like the @brodbeck_ironworks integral attachment and maybe a grind guard . #thepxsmith #joshaweston #forgedinfire #sketchtoreality #sketch #sketchbook #design #accountability #sharp #knifemaker #blacksmith #forged #handmade #bogoak (at Pixel Smith - Josh A. I took a little time to make a new style sheath for my blacksmith knives that is designed for the knife. The fit up is much improved and it will allow for a broader audience as this is a much more fitting for period wear. It can easily be accessorized with a metal ring and hung off a belt with a cord of leather medieval style. Side by side of the template and 2 hour knife. Aside from the cracks, it went well. I did a test break and learned that the cracks were probably pre-heat treat. That means at some point I hit it too cold.
