It isn’t even so much that I disagree with this article, because I wholly agree with the fact that while black people face the brunt of cop violence in the US and especially deadly police violence, poor people as a group are also heavily subjected to their violent whims, especially as it comes to housing/evictions, and that the police form part of a bulwark against encoracements by the working class on the sanctity of private property. I pretty much agree with this article- but I find the fact that it mentions slave patrols only once and almost completely ignores the racial history of cop and vigilante violence against black people to be suspicious. Why are so many leftists willing to just not talk about race and let people assume for them that they’re not racists….hmm….
