I just wanted to say that I love you you come up with designs for your trolls OC😍❤️😝😍 how do you come up with them ay is there a reason you lean into the garbage aesthetic with Cherie and Skidd?

Omg thank you!!!! Cherrie took a few tries to get where I am. But the general idea of how I chose to design her in the way that I did is following some of the movie’s design philosophies as closely as I could. If I had known there was an art book this would have helped me so much. Regardless I wanted her to feel like she could be there and yet stand out. Here was her first design!

While I liked aspects of it I still felt a little busy. I’m also dependent on purple to function and I forced myself to explore more palettes to make interesting characters. It’s cool but not what I wanted. But if you look closely you can see i recycled elements of this old cherrie design and gave it to Skidd. Because well parts of it was still cool af.

As for their garbage aesthetic, well for Cherrie it’s bc she’s part rock troll and I wanted to give her an alternative look but feasible for the place they’re in and I was like freaking garbage!!! And it works story wise bc they’re culturally puttputts so repurposing Bergen junk is what they do! They also use that junk to make fireworks, and explosives(that’s why cherrie’s hair is like that. She blew up one too many times. Her hair ball form probably looks like ass💔)And also they can use it in an alternative way to give them an edgier look.
