My Tomodatchi Miis just sang Happy Birthday to me!
Excerpt from the upcoming chapter of Her Faults and Fears
summery : After Huntr/x have debuted and faring well, Celine thinks it’s time to try to visit Poppy again
She wondered if this is what her mentors had felt when the Sunlight Sisters had begun their own journey, when they’d taken a step back before fading away from their lives. She hoped not. Because that would make her so furious. The girls deserved to know that they were doing so well, they deserved to know that she was proud of them, they deserve so much better than what Celine had gotten. Celine had deserved so much better.
Sometimes I get my angst out at the start of the chapter so I can make the rest of it fluffy :D
Plus, the mandatory loser!Celine
She nodded, and tried to reply with an affirmative, only for her throat to let out a mortifying croak.
I'm sorry, I lied, my angst zoomies were acting up...
She felt tears prick at her eyes at the sight. She’d never associated the word frail with either of her unnies before this. Poppy looked thin, she’d been so before, they’d all been, the industry demanded it, but Poppy had lost the strong musculature she’d always been in awe of. Years of bedrest would do that to anyone, Celine thought with a wave of self loathing. If only she’d been there, maybe they could’ve turned the tide and everyone would’ve been safe. Poppy gaped at her, her eyes wide with something Celine didn’t dare to name. Her vision blurred and she blinked to keep her tears at bay. She wouldn’t hurt her unnie again. Her faults and fears must never be seen. She was tired of being strong. For Rumi, for the girls, for the Honmoon. It wasn’t fair, she raged internally. She was the maknae of their group. They were supposed to be there with her, for her. She wasn’t supposed to be alone.
Some fluff for that!
She can’t change the past, but she can make amends, it’s all she can do, for everyone she’s hurt. So she gathered up her courage and asked, “Unnie, do you want to see Rumi’s baby photos?” Her unnie asked in return, “Rumi, your daughter?” Her pup, but also not, she answered, “No, unnie, Rumi is Mi-Yeong unnie’s pu- daughter, not mine.” Unnie admonished her, “You’ve raised the kid for all these years, Cece, alone. Mimi might’ve been her mother, but you’re her eomma. Now show me my niece’s baby photos.”
Celine buried her head into the comforter and screamed. Her unnie patted her head and she just knew that whatever said next would embarrass her even more. Her next action counted as self defence. Obviously, offence was the best defence. And distraction was a good offence. She flipped open the photo album, and her unnie looked at one of the happiest memories she had with her pup. It was a blurry photo, and the angle was horrible, and the lighting was off, but there was only so much Celine could do with Rumi occupying her entire left arm as she tried to work the camera with her right. It was Rumi’s first time smiling.
