Many people that enter competitions enter ones that can be entered quickly. This is very true for high value competitions, which can have thousands of entries by the closing date.
Contests on the other hand have fewer entries and some will be disqualified, as they do not follow the rules. The less competition that you have then the bigger the chance you will win.
Skill contests allow you to influence your chances of wining beyond just luck. You are able to influence the judges by showing your passion to win.
We all have a creative side that doesn’t get to come out in our normal lives. A skill contest allows you to show your passion and express yourself.
We all want to be better at something whether its writing, photography or cooking, but we rarely have tome to develop these skills.
