From the moment Jemma Simmons first walked into her dorm with rosy cheeks, a blue bobble hat, a steaming cup of tea and a smile to light up their whole campus, Daisy Johnson has been hopelessly in love.
And from the moment Leo Fitz followed her in with a Doctor Who bag, a matching cup of tea and stars in his eyes, she's known she doesn't have a chance.
My sincerest, angstiest fondest birthday wishes to the incredible @justanalto! Serena, I love you, and though I can’t be here personally today, I hope you have an absolutely INCREDIBLE day 💙💙

“That’s it, we’re ready to leave. Piper and Davis have packed, everything’s checked and ready to go.” Jemma says as she closes Daisy’s bunk door behind her, seeing the Inhuman sit on the bed. “Are you ready?” Daisy asks and Jemma’s facade falters a bit, her best friends tone hitting something she tried to bury a long time ago. “To find Fitz? Yes.” Jemma nods and Daisy shakes her head. “No, I mean are you ready for this? Are you okay?” Daisy asks and Jemma shakes her head, her shoulders dropping as she lets out a shakes breath. It’s been work 24/7 since everything went down and Jemma hasn’t had the chance to let down her walls in a while. “Come here Jemma.” Daisy says softly and Jemma obliges, welcoming her best friends arms wrapping around her. “It’s just so much.” Jemma whispers, feeling Daisy tuck her chin into her shoulder. “I know. I know.” Daisy whispers softly, her voice cracking as Jemma hugs her tighter. After a few minutes of silence, Daisy pulls back, sniffling quietly and looking at Simmons. “Say what, let’s change up our looks before we go out venturing the universe to look for your husband.” Daisy says and Jemma wipes her teary eyes, not realizing she was crying until now. “What do you mean?” She asks and Daisy tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. “Before the Zephyr takes off, you can give me purple highlights and I can give you..say..bangs? Right here in my bunk.” Daisy suggests, sure it’s very random but they need the change. “Okay.” Jemma says after a few moments of consideration, a smile playing on Daisy’s lips as she nods. “Okay.”
"If you ever do something that reckless again I am going to tie you up in my lab!" Jemma yells, pointing her finger in Daisy's face.
"Is that a promise?" Daisy asks, raising an eyebrow pointedly, trying to throw Jemma off her game, and is surprised when her cheeks go pink and she starts to fluster immediately.
"Tha-that's not what-I mean, I didn't-you are so-"
She makes a frustrated sound and takes several steps back away from Daisy.
Daisy pushes away from the wall that Jemma had trapped her against and sighs.
"Well, that's too bad," she says, injecting real disappointment into her tone.
Jemma stops stuttering and just stares at her with wide eyes.
"You can by the way," she continues as she walks by her.
"I can what?" Jemma asks slowly, gaze narrowing in suspicion.
"Tie me up," she says and sees how the words short circuit Jemma's big brain. "We already have a safe word."
Jemma flushes again, and Daisy just winks at her and keeps walking out of the lab.
Another season 3a fic. Valentine’s day. Soulmate AU
A few things Daisy knows:
1. Jemma is still alive
2. It's Valentine's day
3. Her arm hurts
4. Jemma is still alive.
She's not delusional, she swears it. She can prove it. Even though she hasn't seen Jemma in months and she doesn't know where she is.
Her arm hurts and her ribs and the heels of her feet. Daisy hasn't been on any very strenuous missions lately, so the phantom pains can only mean the coming from the bond. So, Jemma is still alive. Even if Daisy can’t be sure of her health, considering how achy she feels nowadays.
It’s been so long, though, and sometimes Daisy thinks its just her imagination, her brain just trying to give her false hope. Almost everyone else does.
She notices the long looks they give her, sees how they glance shiftily at each other when she tells them Jemma has to be alive, somewhere, she has to. Daisy doesn’t think she can believe anything else.
Valentine’s day stops for no one, not even people who have lost their soulmates (especially not them), although, to be fair, not many people stop for Valentine’s day either. It’s not even a public holiday or anything, and restaurants and cinemas and basically everywhere else are even busier than usual. Daisy herself has just come back from a mission, fixedly ignoring the couples in the base, Bobbi and Hunter being not-subtle-or-quiet-at-all, Mack has fixed up his workspace with too many fairy lights and roses and has prepared a meal for Elena, Trip and Fitz cuddled up in the communal area with popcorn and alcohol and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, hell, even May and Coulson are skype calling Dr Garner.
Daisy is taking a bath with those cool, galaxy bath-bombs from Lush and eating discount chocolates from Bargain Buys, and trying very, very hard not to cry. The bathroom is brightly lit, there’s the bathtub which she’s currently sitting in, the sink, the toilet, some towels slung over the towel rack, the laundry hamper, a few of Jemma’s hastily scribbled post-it notes, equations or little reminders, still stuck to the mirror, and, randomly, a laminated poster which says, in brightly coloured lettering: Morse Code for Dummies!
That was from when, a while back, Daisy had thought things were finally settling down, for some reason. Which sounds silly now. It had been a gift from Jemma, after she’d confessed trying to communicate with Daisy as a child using it.
The thought makes Daisy pause, chocolate halfway to her lips, the bath water already cooling down to slightly tepid.
They’d laughed about it at the time — well, Daisy had laughed, and Jemma had flushed embarrassed, and then Daisy had kissed her — but, how crazy of an idea was it? Jemma was a genius, after all, even though she’d been a kid at the time.
It’s worth a try. Daisy doesn’t have anything left to lose, after all.
....
As much as the essentially barren planet scares her, hauntingly blue and dim and empty, save for the monsters, it’s Jemma’s newfound shelter which really gives her the creeps.
The Bunker, is what she calls it. She’d found it a few weeks back — if they can be called days, that is, because Jemma hasn’t seen the sun once — tripping on its heavy metal trap door. It had been the closest thing she’d seen to man-made, or some sign of intelligent life, so she’d followed it down. It was better than above anyway.
Miraculously, there is power here, though Jemma tries to ration the slowly depleting battery. There are ancient computers and NASA paraphernalia and all sorts of blueprints and diagrams pinned to the walls and littered on the desks. Neatly put away astronaut suits, books, dreadfully out of date rat-packs, pots and pans and gas stoves with no gas. In a side room, there’s a dry tap and what Jemma assumes was a toilet and shower, and in another, larger room, what must have been sleeping quarters.
Jemma is sitting on one of six empty beds, the one that seemed cleanest, flicking through the notes leftover, written, thankfully, in English. It’s strange how haphazardly everything is left out, not organized or packed away at all, the thin bed sheets were not even folded or made when she’d first seen them.
Briefly, she wonders what happened to them, and then immediately wishes she hadn’t.
There’s a cup of stale water from the canteens she found on a stool next to her, and she reaches over to get it when there’s suddenly a sharp, pain on the palm of her hand.
Immediately, Jemma is on her feet, the crudely made shiv held tightly in front of her, at the ready. Her heart beats wildly in her chest.
The pain comes again, short, minute but sharp, almost like a fingernail jabbing at it particularly hard. And again. And—
Oh.
She knows when it’s Skye’s pain after a mission and her joints hurt so much she can’t get out of bed, or her shoulder feels like it’s been stabbed, and this is… this is not that.
The pricking comes steadily, like a slow, deliberate rhythm.

“Oh forheaven’s sake,” Jemma said, grabbing another handful of popcorn, “He didn’teven hit an artery, that’s far too much blood spatter.”
Beside herDaisy groaned and stole some of her popcorn despite that the bowl was in herlap, “Could you maybe not comment on the blood?”
Jemmaglanced over at her and saw Daisy looking a little queasy, with a roll of hereyes she grabbed the remote and paused the movie. “Daisy if you can’t standthese movies why are we watching them.”
“Because it’sHalloween.” Daisy stated and jutted out her chin just a little defensive andstubborn all at once.
“I know fora fact you don’t watch romance movies on Valentine’s Day.” Jemma said, tryingto give Daisy a way out that she so clearly needed.
If anythingthe stubborn glint in Daisy’s eyes grew. “It’s tradition.”
Jemmarefrained from rolling her eyes again but just barely. “A tradition youcontrol.” She muttered but said nothing else as Daisy took the remote back andstarted up the movie again.
It tookonly five minutes before Daisy had inched closer on the couch, nearly dumping thepopcorn on Jemma in the process. Five minutes and another jump scare after thatDaisy had clutched onto Jemma’s bicep, holding tightly.
“Daisy...”Jemma began, biting her lip so she didn’t laugh because though Daisy might nothave found humour in the situation it was quite funny to see Daisy Johnson, black belt extraordinaire, cowering over a few bloody film shots.
The killerran across the screen again, unbeknownst to its victims.
Daisy letout a sound that could have been a whimper but Jemma was certain she’d deny itand shoved her face close to Jemma’s neck, practically in Jemma’s lap. Shegrabbed the popcorn bowl and set it down on her other side so it didn’t spilleveryone and reached up to pry Daisy’s grip off her bicep, offering her a handinstead.
“I think Isee why you didn’t want to watch these alone now.” Jemma said, unable to keepthe amusement out of her voice.
Daisyhuffed, her breath ghosting across Jemma’s neck and making her shiver at thesensation. “I just knew you didn’t have plans.”
“Ah,” Jemmasnickered, “How gracious of you to ask me to come here then.”
“Justlooking out for you, Simmons.” Daisy teased but ducked her head when the killertook another victim out on the screen.
Jemmahummed, “Well in the case I suppose it’d be rude to let me go walk back to myown dorm room after watching such a movie. I could have nightmares.” She wasonly joking but Daisy jerked her head up at the suggestion and seemed to begiving it merit.
“You knowyou’re right.” Daisy finally said. “You should stay here so I can keep thenightmares at bay.”
“With cuddling?”
“I couldthrow in kisses too.” Daisy smirked but dropped it quickly when another jumpscare got to her.
“Now there’san offer I can’t refuse.” Jemma said, distracting her again and she leaned injust a little, giving Daisy time to pull away if she was in fact joking. Sheclearly wasn’t because Daisy let go of her hand to cup her cheeks and pull infor a kiss. She tasted sweet like the popcorn they’d been eating and the candyshe’d undoubtedly been consuming all day.
Daisygrinned easily when she pulled away and pressed her face back against Jemma’sneck. “See, who needs romance movies.” She said, just barely audible above thescreams on the screen.
Jemmapaused for a moment. “Daisy did you plan this?”
Daisypressed a quick kiss to her neck, “Nope.” She said quickly, a blatant lie.
“Daisy.”
Hands foundher own again and Daisy clutched it. Jemma closed her mouth with a click, shecould let it go, just this once. After all she was promised kisses and thatwould be worth it.
established!Skimmons - "god, I am so in love with you" moments
I.Jemma doesn’t notice at first. For quite a while, actually. She just moves through the lab like she belongs there, like she’s right in place. The lab coat looks just right on her. When she looks up, Daisy is watching her. Smiles break on their faces and Jemma rolls her eyes. No words need to be said. They know.
II.Before Daisy wakes from the deep sleep she’s in, Jemma is quietly awoken by Trip. He puts a finger to his lips and urges her to follow her. A mission, of course. Before following him, Jemma tucks Daisy in, who purrs a little.
III.“Ha!” Daisy exclaims, “Ha!”
“No! That’s not..! I didn’t..!”
Daisy swoops her off her feet and twirls them around. “I told you so!”
“Shut up,” Jemma murmurs, tangling her fingers in Daisy’s hair when she puts her down, reeling her in for a kiss.
