Why are more black South African women bleaching their skin?

Bleaching creams are illegal in South Africa, but they’re not well regulated & are easily accessible.

South Africa addresses racism frequently, but rarely do we discuss colourism in the black community.

The black community puts light skin on a pedestal, so it’s no surprise that more black women are bleaching their skin to be seen as desirable & to gain access to more opportunities.

Hear me out. His career started when he was five. By his death, he had entirely changed his nose multiple times so that it didn't look even remotely like his nose from before. He purged the melanin from his skin to cover up his vitiligo. He had his hair ripped out and different hair implanted. Eye lifts, cheekbone surgery, chin cleft surgery, you name it, it was or had been somewhere on his face. Before any of the surgery, he looked like this:

Those are the same man.

But the question is: who was the real Michael Jackson?

i love daily reminders of people who hate themselves a lot more than i do or deserve to bc imagine trying to erase the black off my skin in addition to wearing blue contacts and blonde hair (consistently, every other video shes wearing some type of blonde) like?!
