Things to Read/Watch now that the Tamon anime season 1 has ended

This list consists of mangas, manhwas & kdramas which somehow revolve around the lives and romance of Idols, Actors or Celebs. These works don’t exactly hold a romance similar to Tamon and Utage’s dynamic but you will enjoy them regardless if you’re looking for more of that “celebrity/idol trope”.

now on to the list! (in no particular order)

1. Tonari no Stella

Rising Star x Childhood Friend

The story of a high school girl whose childhood friend is steadily becoming a notable actor in the entertainment industry. She has feelings for him but she holds back from confessing because she's scared of rejection & losing her friendship. The guy feels the same way for her (is very grateful to have her) but is equally scared of messing-up their friendship.

Idol x Internet Musician

An internet-based musician finds out she’s classmates with a famous Kpop idol. Funny thing is, she dgaf. But the kpop idol actually listens to her songs and is a big fan, and wishes to collab. Due to unprecedented circumstances, they have to work together, and end up catching feelings.

3. Skip Beat

Rookie Star x Pro Celeb

This is a classic shoujo manga. I’m sure many must already be familiar with this. Female lead strives to enter the showbiz to take revenge on her ex-boyfriend, a rising star in the entertainment industry who merely used the female lead as a maid. Along het journey to stardom, she encounters an established Actor in the industry who dislikes her initially because of her unpleasant reason for becoming a star.

TW: SLOW BURN! And I’m talking like..one of the slowest slow burns but TOTALLY WORTH IT!

4. Kodomo no Omocha

Actress x Ordinary Person (Delinquent)

ANOTHER SHOUJO CLASSIC! The female lead is an 11 yo child actress who despises her school’s classroom’s bully and tries to correct his behaviour. Gradually, as they grow up, they also grow closer with each other and end up falling in love.

TW: Slow Burn + Toxic? Male Lead. I’m not entirely sure but initially some might find the boy’s behaviour toxic so i’m labelling as such just in case.

5. Shooting Stars

Actor x Publicist

Kdrama about a female lead who works as a publicist at one of the top entertainment companies, and is responsible for maintaining their rising star male lead’s positive image. Constantly bickering duo who eventually warm up to each other. If there’s one thing you’ll love, it’s their banter.

6. Greedy

Rising Star x Magazine Editor

After her fiance cheats on her with her so-called best friend, the female lead is left miserable and the reality of her job as junior editor doesn’t console much, until the famous rising star offers to give her an exclusive interview. He is unusually affectionate towards the heartbroken female lead. His intentions are unclear to both the readers and the female lead yet the female lead begins to seek comfort in him, and relies on him. THE ART STYLE IS TO DIE FOR.

TW: Fairly new manhwa! So there's only around 18 chapters and the wait might be difficult for some readers.

Obviously! Read the manga. And if you have the means, then buy the volumes and support Yuki Shiwasu-san 🫶 and let’s all hope for a season 2 announcement soon 🤞
