Spot: Race would be a mess without me, let me tell you. I've gotten him out of so much trouble he should be kissing the ground I walk on.

Race: Name one example. 

Spot: I can name a million. I used to take the fall for you all the time.

Race: Yeah, when we were kids! My mom loved you, she'd never punish you, so of course you would take the blame when we got into trouble. Pick something that counts.

Spot: That so counts.

Race: It does not. 

Spot: What about when you almost got detention for cheating and I totally saved your ass? Does that count.

Race: ...yeah, I guess.

Spot: Great, now do me.

Race: What??

Spot: Name a time you helped me out, genius. 

Race: Right, right, uh -

Spot: Can't think of anything, can you? Cause I'm slick.

Race: Would you shut up, you sound like an idiot. I'm thinking.

Spot: Don't hurt yourself.

Race: See, I'm having so much trouble thinking of a time because he's an asshole and no one would ever want to bail him out ever.

Spot: And cause I'm slick.

Race: Shut up.

Race and Spot tell me about a time you were GENUINELY pissed at eachother.

Race: Is it weird that I can't think of a time?

Spot: I can't either. I mean, I get mad mad at you once a day at least. But that's normal.

Race: For us, anyway.

Spot: Yeah, for us. Genuinely pissed requires a lot of energy I don't wanna waste on Race.

Race: Plus I'm his favorite.

Spot: Don't think I said that.

Race: It was implied. It's kind of like - I can see Spot's side in most of our stupid fights. They're hardly even fights, we're usually on the same side. It's just a good way to let off some steam, really.

Spot: Yeah, what he said.

Race: 'Sides, Spot knows I'm always right, why bother properly arguing with me?

Spot: Hey now, I never said that. I'm the smart one in this relationship and you know it.

Race: You are not!

Spot: I am so!

Race: Are not!

Spot: Am so!

Spot tell me about he worst day of your life.

Not sure why you’d want to hear about that, but uh..

It was probably the day my dad left. Technically, it’s also probably one of the best days of my life, because it meant he was gone, but at the time I didn’t see it as that.

He wasn’t the greatest guy out there. He cheated on my mom, he drank himself to the point where he was passed out on nearly every one of the few nights a week he was home. So it wasn’t the worst thing to see him go.

But he was still my dad. And mom loved him, still does, I think. And my siblings, they’re all older than me, and they had some good memories of him. So it was hard.

When he left, my mom had four kids to take care of all by herself. We were down a paycheck, and I was still pretty young, so I needed a lot of things. I still don’t know how she managed it. But she did, and I think we all turned out okay.

I’m the only one left now. Everyone else is moved out and doing their own thing. None of them went to college, and I think that’s why it was so important to my mom that I do well in school. She has a lot more faith in me than I have in me, and she thinks I’d do well in college. I want her to be right, so I’m trying. I follow Mouth’s stupid study schedule, and I go to class every day, and I haven't gotten a detention since I transferred schools. 

I’m gonna make something of myself. Haven’t quite decided what yet, but I’ve got some time, I think.

The first thing I’m gonna do when I hit big though, is buy my mom a real nice place, not like that apartment we’re living in now. Cause if anyone deserves it, it’s her.

What's spot up to at the New Years party?

Laughing at these idiots, mostly. None of them can hold their alcohol, it’s a bit pathetic. Starting to wish I’d pulled a David and hid out for the night, but I promised Race I’d kick his ass at cards in a bit, so I have to get back out there eventually.

I’m getting so much blackmail material out of tonight. It’s fantastic. 

I should start taking pictures. Some of these moments might just be too good to be true.

They're a handful, let's say. They can take care of themself, and that's why I like them. Satisfied?

Manhattan is full of idiots. I think I've said that already, but it's the truth. I've just got a good handle on this group of idiots. Plus, it makes going back to Brooklyn at the end of the day all that much better, like a breath a fresh air, if you can get that in New York. The commute is shit, but ma says the schooling is worth it.

She's not the one taking the bus every day, but I won't argue with the woman.

Spot you like anyone in particular at your high school?????

I like plenty of people. You think I'd put up with half these idiots if I didn't like them? I am a man of many skills, but patience isn't one of them, and you need a hell of a lot of that to hang around this group for very long. 

That's not what you meant though. I know what you meant.

And to that I say, I may or may not have a particular fondness for a particular person, but seeing as they don't know, I'm certainly not going to go blabbing it to you. You might tell them. And then what would I be?

That all depends on who you talk to.

If you ask my mother, things couldn't be better. I'm not failing anything, I haven't gotten expelled yet, and "all my little friends are so nice."

If you want the truth, I'm kinda concerned about all those people who said high school is the best four years of your life. I've barely been here half that and I've had about enough. Too many people think they can tell me what to do.

You want an example?

It's winter break, right? There's holidays going on all over the place, and family taking over your couches and floor space and more food then anyone, even the entire Conlon gang, can eat in a week.

Teachers still gave us homework. Who the hell do they think they are?
