1. When did you become interested in football?

Well, when I was still in kindergarten I watched football with my dad and I drew our NT players during games because I liked them so much (I also drew their wives and kids). But I really became interested somewhere before the 2006 world cup. That’s when I really started getting the hang of rules and clubs and such. I was 13.

13. What bothers you most about the football fandom on tumblr?

I hate the hysteria and the way misinformation is spread and widely believed. The herd mentality, where one popular person’t opinion becomes every ones. The belief that one off game means a crisis. And the way bullying gets frequently excused as banter. Like. I know banter. I’m friends with a ton of people who support rival clubs and I have no mercy for them and viceversa. But there’s still an implied camaraderie in it all, a sense that we’re still in this together. There’s no camaraderie in an anon message telling you to kill yourself just because you support a rival club. Or in reblogging someone’s personal post just to make fun of them in front of your thousand followers. It’s frightening to be honest.

17. Have you ever thought less of a person who supports a different club?

Hm. I think I have. I think I used to look at United supporters and Real supporters with something like superiority. But idk. That’s changed a lot for me and I think I was wrong thinking like that. Everyone has a reason for supporting the club they do and that reason is just as valid as mine. It’s been an important lesson for me and I’m glad I learned it because I think it’s made me a better person.

19. Football - a lifestyle or just a fun thing to watch on the weekend?

I think it’s perfectly valid as both. I mean I’ve had seasons where I’ve watched every game and I’ve had seasons where I barely watched football.Sometimes you just have different priorities and interests and that’s cool. Football is always there for you they way other things can’t be.
