A skull mount - the hard way
Some call them skull mounts. Some call them European mounts (I guess that's because it's the way they do it across the pond).
In any case, it's a big job, unless you happen to have a pit of flesh-eating dermestid beetles on hand (You can actually buy them on eBay but, as I see it, it's just 300 more mouths to feed).
So, as always, I did it the hard way: Sawing, cutting, boiling, scraping, poking, boiling some more, scraping some more, etc. etc., etc.
Pictured here is the buck I killed on Nov. 20 with my muzzleloader. The old barn wood really sets it off, I think.
we got a horse in and he had some gnarly molars. 29 years old and honestly in pretty desperate need for a float.
Bearded Dragon shrine of my late Jamie, he died on July 2nd and lived to be 12 years old. I cleaned his skull in 4 days and buried his remains. The soapbox contains shed skin from him, drawings of grey violets (for peace) and Amethyst, Black Geode, and Quartz (for longevity)
Love a skull mount!
Here is the start to the European Skull Mount wall in my office...One more skull to go...😊🙌
