The newcomers who arrived in the little farming villages of medieval Germany would have stood out: They had dark hair and tawny skin, spoke a different language and had remarkably tall heads.
What caught my eye about this story was the first sentence, and the idea that people would have actually physically looked much different in comparison to the people around them. Not just wearing different clothes, or jewellery, or whatever, but ... I guess I’m naive. I don’t care. I like having my brain awakened like that. It had never, on the other hand, crossed my mind that it was odd that women travelled long distances back in the day, whatever day that was.
