Book name: Bravelands Author: Erin Hunter

The Bravelands books absolutely aren't the end-all-be-all of disability representation (I mean just look at what they did to poor Fleet) but it is nice to see that nobody treats Skullcracker as any lesser because of their broken jaw. Maybe that's just an intrinsic part of Bravelands hyena culture (they seem to be very death-positive as well) but it's nice, more than I could say for poor Crookedstar in Warriors, another Erin Hunter series.

I know they're canonically female but I headcanon them to be non-binary! They just happened to have worked themself up to the high ranks of the females.

story undercut

technically this was a design from when i was 13, and i don’t remember the story for it besides it was just a kewl merc kid.

so for a quick story i made while drawing this... 

this is kurere. she was adopted by traveling merchants who specialized in selling non-keronian weapons to keronians. their work was incredibly shady, but there was no danger to kurere and she was being primed to take the business after her parents die. It wasn’t aligned to her aspirations but hey.

Surely enough, the shady business went down south when the family opted to take highly experimental weapons to the market, making a deal with their creator to be the middle-men for the operation and making good cash along the way. It was a huge success. However, word got around outside of the family’s usual business trade and a notorious clan decided they were above paying to low-like merchants and decided to simply steal them. and ensure that they were the only ones to have such renowned weapons.

kurere’s family was slaughtered, their funds stolen and weapon cache cleared. kurere, in a panic, took off on her parents ship to leave the area before the clan realized they left a survivor. on board remained a single crate to be shipped the following day, containing one of the high prized weapons inside... An oversized hammer with some corrosive liquid oozing on the inside to power it. Or does it server some other purpose...?

Kurere spends the rest of her days trying to hunt down the clan and train using this weapon. It’s ridiculously heavy and a burden in battle but it’s all she has besides her small merchant ship. She gets her ass whooped on many occasions, with or without the cumbersome hammer.

she does eventually get a grip on it and raise herself to be a mercenary who tracks down the clan by killing those who have these weapons, but currently she ain’t that cool yet, i just felt like drawing her cocky self.

Working on chaos dwarves. Today I’ll be showing you the Skullcracker war engines. It’s a work in progress but they look nice enough for the battle tomorrow. I’ll post pictures of the dwarves while I’m painting them later.
