The concept is interesting and unique but I could not not let it go unexplained?? I mean I felt that I have to explain why people have these power charger on them because this doesn’t feel like magical realism to me so if I don’t explain it annoys me when things happen/exist and there’s no rhyme or reason for it /o\ (i can deal with it if it’s magical realism/fantasy but for other genre it makes ME SUPER TWITCHY). So that lead me to what if the people have these power charger plug on their body because LIFE SUPPORT. Like set not too far into the future where people who has debilitating health or on the edge of death are able to live through technology that keep that alive. This technology is basically a sort of biotech?? There are these extremely tiny artificially made robotic organism call biobug that can hijack cell to help regrow dead/old cells, maintain control of a body system when the main components fail, defend the body from viruses/bacterias, etc but these things come in small dosage b/c body can’t handle that kind of stress without straining itself and they have to charge these biobugs because they need an energy source feed on and do their job so these people has to plugged into an electrical source every now and then. So this technology is still developing and at it’s infancy stage and not widely use.
Okay so when Donghae was fourteen, he and his mother and brother got into an accident where he was the only survivor but much of Donghae’s organ systems were failing him and his body is ~80% destroyed. For a decade Donghae was in a coma until he woke up completely new and different. His skeleton is made of highly flexible synthetic metal that grow with him, his flesh is synthetic skin that was regrow in a lab and than given back to him, the majority of his organs and muscles are made of newly regrow tissue that are created from biotech that keeps his heart and lungs fictional and donghae’s body constantly fixing itself because how horribly damaged it is.
So Donghae is technically immortal in theory anyway (not that he can’t be kill but that donghae won’t get sick, doesn’t age B/C the biotech keep replacing old and dead cell/tissues with new ones all the time and defend his body from intruders and his body has like 90% of these biobug in them which compares to average of 30-40% for most people without the overload of stress) and since Donghae’s new body is an integrated flesh, bones, and muscles that are made from technology and enhance by these biobugs so he’s not a cyborg because it’s a mesh of both biology and technology and not a separation is what keeps him alive. It doesn’t make Donghae faster or do anything fancy since most of the biobug concentration is to KEEP DONGHAE ALIVE because without it he’ll shut down and all these require a huge amount of energy source so he often need recharging (so he can’t go any place that doesn’t have a source of power that he can recharge from).
Donghae has to learn how to readjust to his new body, to walk again, to manage his own strength, etc but most importantly that he can’t go far without constantly charging and doing all that while you lost everything you ever known is just :xxxxxxx. So Hyukjae is the scientist that built Donghae new ‘body’ and gave him new lease in life, if Hyukjae is Michelangelo than Donghae is his Sistine Chapel—his greatest creation, his piece de resistance. Unlike other people with biobug, donghae’s body is overwhelmingly made by synthetic/artificial skin, muscle, etc which are all control and maintain by his biobugs basically he’s one of a kind in this position.
Hyukjae and Donghae has this uh peculiar relationship with each other. Hyukjae cares deeply for Donghae’s wellbeing and Donghae is very dependent on Hyukjae since Hyukjae is the first face he saw since he woke up and the one he sort of imprinted on and he has no one left in the world :((((. I’M REALLY INTO THIS KIND OF SCIENTIST/CREATION RELATIONSHIP??? b/c hyukjae sort of put donghae in this situation, made him rely on a power source to live and bound him to hyukjae and ahhh hyukjae feels so much guilt over that despite saving donghae :(((. donghae feels a sense of debt to hyukjae for saving him and slowly and surely start to develop feeling for him but it’s also complicated by the fact that donghae feels awkward and strange in this body no longer thinking he’s ‘human’ and not good enough for hyukjae :xx BUT HA.
Later it will be reveal that Donghae’s father was one of foremost leading researchers in biotech before he died (the idea for this new tech is actually donghae’s father’s life work because he wanted to save his son, the last link to his family) and that Hyukjae was Donghae’s childhood friend who always been interest in Donghae’s father work and once he found out what happened to Donghae, he made it his life mission to give Donghae a life again (donghae’s memory is pretty fuzzy so he doesn’t know/remember hyukjae at all)—except it isn’t much of a life when Donghae is bound to what to the technology that keeps him alive and that he is never truly free in that sense because if he doesn’t recharge his body he’ll die :((( and have to rely on something else. Anyway, Donghae’s father dedciated his entire life to save his son and he died before he could complete it (murdered more like it) and hyukjae was able do it, using donghae’s father notes and all that he nad learned and for three more years before he could bring Donghae back and then he burned all the notes and research he did in order to gave Donghae a new life b/c like the fact that Donghae is now breathing and living is the holy grail of medicine/biotech?? BECAUSE SEMI-IMMORTALITY AND ALL THAT and people just want the technology for themselves so they see Donghae as valuable source of information and technology.
idk i think of donghae being on the border of human and non-human and what constitute a human (is the flesh and blood that carry us or our conscious thought b/c if we put our brain into a robot body does that mean we're still human???) and hyukjae feeling gravity of his knowledge b/c he's the only living person in the world to able reproduce another like donghae and how that kind of knowledge is equally fearsome and fearful (men venturing into the realm of science to create something that shouldn't be touch, donghae = adam etc etc ~theme~), new age of humans (using biotech to create humans that can live longer and more 'perfect')--evolving to a new height and how ppl fear/welcome it. IDK I THINK THAT'S A FASCINATING TOPIC TO EXPLORE??
I have another idea which is just really complicated and weird ಠ_ಠ. Like a world that sort of burned itself out (a sort of post-apocalyptic/dystopian society) where humans are born with missing limbs, failing organs, and debilitating health problem because of the terrible air they breath (the aftermath of a nuclear war that left residue in the air and cost all kind of problems for those still remains). So people compensate by turning to augmentation and technology to fix their “failures” (though it’s not temperament and only make them dependent on the tech even more) and for the lower class they get robotic limbs, artificial hearts, etc (scraps/junks that are refurbished form the inner city) things that constantly need maintenance/replacement/and that could be easily be broken down and (all of these technology in their system are run an energy source that they need to recharge every few days or they shut down and if you have an artificial heart or lungs obviously that MEANS DEATH) and the energy source is control by the gov’t to keep the lower class on a leash. For those of the upper class/wealthy/gov’t they can afford better technology that doesn’t break down as often and higher quality all around.
so there is this growing class tension between them but the lower class never been able to do anything b/c their need of energy resource :xxx that keeps from from overthrowing the upper class/gov’t but there’s group trying to fight back and all begin with hyukjae who lives in the slum of the district. hyukjae was born with a right arm and his left eyes as he grow older started to go blind so he replaced both with scrap metal and build himself a new eye and arm b/c he's a mechanic/doctor something that he had learn from his mother who is a mechanic while is father is a doctor and both had lived in the slum district and he learned all his skills from them *__*. anyway hyukjae is the lynchpin of his district b/c he's least shadiest doctor/mechanic around (LOL b/c he doesn't cheat the already poor ppl out of their money but takes favor/trade instead which is MORE VALUABLE TO THESE PPL).
one day, the junk divers (ppl who scavenge the deadly maze like catacombs under the city to find junk to sell so the mechanics and others can savage parts and make new limbs for other) find donghae deep in one of the sector of the catacombs and they are long time friends/customers of hyukjae and has hyukjae take a look at donghae.
okay so in the catacombs underneath the city, donghae was sleeping in sort of time capsule where he is basically frozen and donghae is the only ‘unmodified’ humans that doesn’t appear to have any sort of ‘problem’ on the surface (he’s actually very, very sickly which is why he was put in a state of suspended animation… like several hundred years ago before the war, before everything :x). anyway, donghae has no mutation/disfugring or anything 'wrong' with him like the rest of the world and that's doesn't happen in their world not with the polluated air and the ppl born 'wrong' and 'terrible' in their eyes (at least the upperclass and those live in the city can buy cosmetic/artificial limbs to make up for it and appear at least somewhat resemblance to normal again). basically in a world where everyone looks 'WRONG' donghae is normal and that normal makes him SPECIAL.
so donghae has a disease that should have die a hundred years ago but now lives within donghae and hyukjae can't find a cure to it but can only subdued it with the current tech that is made available to him. since hyukjae is the only one who can treat donghae, the junk divers gave him to hyukjae and donghae sort of end up integrating into hyukjae's space which basically means he start to live with hyukjae XD. he ends up being hyukjae's assistant and helping hyukjae with his patients/customers and meeting all sort of ppl and learning of the world (how it's common to see kids with a missing limb or ppl with two heads/purple skin/reptile tongue--these are the norm and it is donghae that is THE WEIRDO that stand out b/c of how NORMAL HE LOOKS by our standard).
donghae ends up in hyukjae care and he has to learn to adapt to this world where everyone rely on energy source to live and function b/c much of their artificial limbs/organs/etc is power on this stuff which is manage by the gov't and the inner city council that use that as leverage to control the mass. donghae doesn't know much or remember why he got stuck in the capsule but he knows that he hates the corrupted system that rule this world b/c he remembers what it's like to be born sick and weak and how ppl judge and pity and think he's better off dead b/c he's only barely hanging on to life. donghae is not part of their world but he understood what it's like to mistreated, to be think of lesser than himself and disregard his own human's rights and so yea he get caught in the underground rebellion and dragged hyukjae in too XD.
hyukjae actually doesn't want to get involve in the war against the inner city and gov't b/c his family used to be a member of the group but his sister went missing and his parents were killed b/c they were found associated with them so he doesn't ever want to get involve again but along comes donghae who makes him realize staying passive and quiet and standing by does nothing for the ppl and b/c sometimes doing the right thing is the hardest thing you ever do but you got to do it anyway.
there's a lot going on like the mysterious origin of donghae and hyukjae getting get and involve in an ever more intensive and explosive war b/t the two fractions and hyukjae finding the will to stand and deciding where he fall on the side of thing so YEAAA.
i feel like this is more of a political commentary that actually focusing on the whole recharging thing??? OOPS SORRY /o\.

And gotta say - it was super duper fun. uwu Dancing to historical dances and after that just raving to good ol' 90's hits was so nice (Vici is the best DJ no one can top her), and I got to see friends I only meet very rarely, and even made some new acquaintances~. Including a very sweet and cute Rivaille cosplayer.
So my costume kept falling apart on me and my boobs didn't quite want to say in my bra lol (no wonder tho, F cup boobs in D cup bra, not a good idea) but otherwise it was great! Next year tho, I'm going to wear something with pants. Or a shorter skirt. I had a very revealing dress that reached the floor and had a hugeass slit on the hem. ...yea.
Anyway it's past 2AM and so I'm gonna eat something since I haven't eaten anything proper the whole day woopwoop healthy lifestyle, and then head to bed.
