the boys sentence starters / accepting @skunkbrat: “sometimes you get further with people by treating them like people.”
HE KNOWS HOW HE IS. ever since he was a kid he’s known he sees the world differently than his friends, too serious to let loose, too duty-bound to allow free time. but what choice does he have when every misstep could get someone killed under his watch? it’s easier to be disliked than be responsible for the death of those he holds dear.
rogue has a unique position, someone who understands him in a way no one else does. what it’s like to have uncontrollable power that could kill in a second’s notice. he remembers their conversation by the sunset when they first realized this commonality, how good it felt to have someone actually understand that part of his life. she’d earned his eternal trust then --and twice over after her work on utopia, calling him out when he needed to be grounded. she’s good at that --it’s why they work so well together.
and here she is again, calling him out on snapping at her friend. but does he regret it? perhaps the momentary rudeness of it all (he’s always let his work get to him), but the message remained the same. being popular was never his concern --bringing his team home was.
he sighs, centering himself a little. ❛ i know he’s your friend and i respect that but i’m not letting wade wilson anywhere near this school. he’s reckless, he’s a danger to my team and my students. i trust your judgment --you know that-- but i don’t have time to deal with loose cannons. ❜
