Buff-breasted sandpip

Buff-breasted sandpiper is a small wandering bird with attractive coloration. Both male and female sandpipers have a pale brown body with black spots. The small bird also has an attractive straight black bill.

The 1977 Pontiac Sky Bird logo.

Sky Bird was a wonderful excuse to make a pretty bird logo just for this car. Finished with a light blue exterior and interior; it marked a juncture where automakers got serious about marketing to women. The 1977 SkyBird was marketed as the "Women's Muscle Car" and was aimed at attracking the female end of the spectrum. The cost of ordering the Skybird Esprit was a mere $418 with Cloth seats or $391 with Vinyl seats.

1977 Pontiac Sky Bird (Firebird Esprit special edition)

Starting in 1977 Pontiac would start offering “Color birds”. These designer Firebird Esprits with a themed color and options had their own versions of delicate looking bird graphics with plenty of curves and flowing scripts. The first was the 1977 Sky Bird, called Sky instead of Blue due to a Georgia company owning the rights to the name.
