WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE TWO EMBERS PT1 CHAPTERS + NEW AREA

I personally cried my eyes out + went insane over the lore drops. So much info about light, too!

Hey! So far I have loved it! Def enjoyed the the emotional roller coaster.

SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT

I wasn’t too surprised by a lot of it. It felt very on point for the game and lore already established! A lot of connections to shattering.

I know a lot of people were surprised and horrified by the “Light” juicing. And they displayed that absolutely unnatural tragedy perfectly. The way they were trying to keep themself alive by corrupting nature and taking its life is a not so subtle reflection of humanity.

Resh also expresses himself perfectly!!!! His design was very much what I was not expecting but excited for. What a reveal.

Seeing what the krill looked like in what I consider their “true form” they def dumbed down so of the krill impact in the game. (Obviously) because when they appear in the show they don’t just hit. … they impact! They are alive and hungry!!! So absolutely and deliciously terrifying. Loved that!!!

Lamed part was incredibly creepy to me. I don’t know about anyone else but the way she went into the mind of a child to pacify their anger made me squirm.

And that ending with them all standing around the child who brought them light. The only warm light they have seen in ages while they wait for inevitable…. We know what’s going to happen. We know what will happen to all of them. What has already happened to many.

It puts a pit in my stomach.

Something about watching them all come closer, holding their candles, and finding peace with what they know will all be their end is absolutely heart breaking.

We can’t change their fate. I mean look how scared a lot of the kids are and how their parents tried to hide their faces from what is happening.

Gods.

A lot is going as I and other predicted but it’s still wild to see it. Especially in such well done and thought out animation.

Mind you!!! NO DIALOGUE! All expressions, and so much is conveyed. I love it so much

Runaway political radicalization? In MY warrior cats books?? I can’t believe it but we really are getting a delicious look at Berryheart’s little book club turning into a full-on dangerous insurgent movement. I’m almost too excited to believe it.

And Sunbeam could have stopped it all the way back in River if she’d just spoken to Tigerheartstar earlier! But now, Snowbird, Snaketooth, Stonewing, Whorlpelt, Grassheart, and Yarrowleaf are confirmed Traditionalists, and we have a word for cats who change clans (Clan-swapper). That’s SEVEN cats with decided loyalties, while most of the clan is now too sick to fight.

It’s also interesting that there are two families here that are part of this- Grass, Snake, Stone, and Whorl are a unit, and Snow, Yarrow, and Berry are the other. I hope that stays relevant, I’m enjoying how kinship has a greater role in this arc.

And the way they start their conversation, just blaming outsiders, but then devolving into full-on conspiracies as Sunbeam watches helplessly (making sure to internally point out to the audience how ridiculous their claims are) is delicious. RIP Rowankit, you adorable little thing, your death is absolutely not in narrative vain.

Tigerheartstar Sky leaks

I was so sosososo worried that they were going to take my boy Nightheart and completely change him from who he was in River because of the excerpt, but I’m over the moon to report that he’s not!

He’s still my nasty boy, still launching himself into dangerous situations in an attempt to prove himself, lashing out at people who are offering him kindhearted advice.

Practically unprovoked, Nightheart starts to insult Jayfeather and Brightheart’s contributions to the clan after he gets defensive about an injury from a squirrel bite, and more comparisons to Firestar.

I’m seeing people saying this makes them ‘fed up‘ with Nightheart and from my perspective... yes, that is why I like him. I don’t agree that the rest of the clan was unreasonable in their treatment of him; Lionblaze, Squirrelflight, and even Sparkpelt to an extent have all been dealing with his rash, rude behavior since River.

I was terrified that the excerpt we saw a few months ago was going to pivot hard to make him a totally reliable narrator, and that it would become the clan’s problem that they were starting to meet his hostile presence with dread (the way the narrative, in the past, concluded it was Squirrelflight’s problem that she was meeting Brambleclaw’s passive aggression with active aggression in TNP and SH, yuck). But, based on the first few chapters, that is absolutely not the case.

And yet the clan is STILL giving him chances, Jayfeather suggesting that Nightheart is lashing out from insecurity and needs a chance to prove himself. I love the way Squirrelflight is wary about Nightheart, but still seems to have his best interests in mind. It’s also interesting how Nightheart knows they’re giving him a chance by sending him on this mission, and yet, still takes the entire trip to complain about how he has been personally victimized, jumping at the suggestion that Tawnypelt might understand him. I hope something comes of that.

I’m holding out hope for a Nightheart villain arc of sorts, but at the very least, I’m extremely interested in seeing where his development goes.
