The blind came off his head and he instinctively flinched, expecting sudden harsh light to blind him all over again. Nothing like that, the light of the room slightly hurt, but it was muted, more a pale silver that flooded the surroundings with a lone bare lightbulb in the corner offering a bit brighter spot. Shawn shifted on his chair and tested the handcuffs around his wrists, eyes wary as he noted the wall dominated by a great glass circle where even now he could see numbers, realizing he was inside of the huge clock in the downtown area. So he knew where he was but now the question was, who the Hell did this?
A low growl slipped from his chest as he glanced down to his shoulders. He could probably dislocate one and manage to get out of the chair but putting it back in joint would be a problem. And Shawn wasn’t so sure he wanted to weaken himself like that, not when he didn’t know exactly what or who he was dealing with. He shook his head as he tried again to slip one hand out of the cuffs. “And to think,” he murmured to himself. “I wanted to go back to work.”
“And welcome back, Detective~” A voice purred, dark and sultry in a way that made Shawn still in his seat, having it hard to catch his breath when his heart pounded so loudly in his chest he could hear it, the heat searing through his body at just the sound. The owner of the voice appeared in his line of sight, the upper half of his face hidden in shadows, a black mask over his eyes, the lower half Shawn could see that mouth curved into a wicked smirk. His frame was wiry, not the bulkiest vigilante running amok through the city but there was a predatory grace and control of his movements Shawn always found himself noticing.
“…Warp,” drawled Shawn, trying to keep the breathlessness and arousal from that voice out of his own. “I-if you wanted to see me so damn bad, c-could have dropped by the station.” He watched as that smirk deepened and damn if he didn’t realize that yes, this was what he missed those long weeks away. He shifted again in the chair, moving enough to make the handcuffs clink together, the room quiet enough both could hear the metallic sound. “S-so what is this? M-missed me?”
“Oh, I’d like to… play with you with cuffs, Detective. But you pick boring places.” The masked man winked at him, enjoying the surprised and intrigued look he was given by the sitting man. “You just got back from a rather long suspension and already trying to arrest me?” He tsked, shaking his head. “I think we both know who you really want to be handcuffed.”
“H-hey! You jumped me. I-I just got back today and I haven’t even looked at your files yet. There’s other things to my job, you know.” His own voice sounded in his getting angry growl, more at himself because the asshole was more than a little right about him. ”Y-you gonna tell me what the fuck is going on now?” His breathing hitched when Warp plopped down on his lap, straddling him. There was not a damn thing he could do about it, a tremor ran through him and he gritted his teeth as a finger came under his chin, prompting him to lift his head up to meet that gaze. His ire grew when he realized Warp was enjoying this state of half turned on and half pissed off he was in. Only Warp could push his buttons the way he did, and Shawn tried to make an effort to control his breathing, knowing that would help him control his voice.
“Rumor has it that you had to make a choice, Detective, between your job and me. You picked me. Hence your suspension… maybe I wanna know, do the rumors have any truth to them? Did you?”
Shawn dragged his tongue over his teeth but didn’t look away from Warp. He found the questions odd and couldn’t understand the importance to them even though he had a feeling the answers had to mean something to the other man to abduct him just to ask. He merely shrugged and tried relaxing into the chair in an attempt to create a little more space between them.
“R-Really? That’s what you wanna know?” Shawn rolled his eyes at Warp’s irritation he wasn’t answering them. “T-this is a lot of trouble you’ve gone through. Why the… interrogation?”
“Because I have to know.” Warp frowned, not pleased that Shawn ignored answering him. Because he didn’t understand why someone so hellbent to get him off the streets risked his career for him? It had been a question that had hounded him for weeks while Shawn had been on suspension. He almost tracked the detective down in that time to ask. Almost, but stopped himself. Going to Shawn while he was off duty made if far more personal, a boundary Warp kept having to remind himself he didn’t want to cross. “You don’t like me and you never….”
“Y-You saved my life, Warp. Didn’t have to, figured your own life would be a helluva lot easier with me out of it.” Shawn closed his eyes and shook his head. “I-I always wanted to ask why o-on that but… guess handcuffing you to a chair in Kaon Corps’ clocktower d-didn’t cross my mind.” He opened his eyes and tried to shift in the chair frowning at the masked man on his lap. “S-still would guess m-maybe you missed me.”
“I’m disappointed the thought didn’t occur to you, Detective.” Oh, that irritating smirk and the way Warp’s body moved over Shawn’s. The detective’s breath caught and Warp drank down every movement, his imagination sparking on how Shawn would move in an even more intimate position. “Maybe I don’t want an easier life, the entire masked vigilante messes up that too. That wasn’t an option, Shawn, to let you die. Take it how you want.”
“T-that’s the first time you called me my name.” Shawn shook his head. “L-look, you’re not so bad. The acting above the law is fucking annoying but… you get things done. T-things that might never have happened if left to the system. You know how corrupt it’s gotten in the Council, the Mayor’s office, the police department.”
“Shawn’s not a bad name~” Warp grinned while he inwardly bit his tongue. The lines were always ones he didn’t cross but something seemed… different. For him it was when the thought of Detective Wolf dead and gone became unthinkable. There were many things Sean had lost in his life… this wasn’t one he wanted to consider losing. Bitterness flared up tamping down the hope that maybe something was there in between them because Shawn wasn’t even his to lose. “From where I sit… above the law isn’t such a bad thing, detective, it does put you under me~” His voice dropped back down to an intimate purr, not quite his signature one but one he’d been saving just for the times they’d talk, this purr holding more in it, having a purpose being just between them.
Shawn cursed under his breath, unable to stop the shivers racking his frame from just that purr as it rolled through him. It was amazingly sexy, hitting him just right to tighten his body as it heated him up, leaving him wanting more. He lifted his head as Warp linked hands behind his neck, dark eyes drowning in need and lust as he felt… so lost, his heart pounding in his chest, he pulled at the handcuffs again wishing to have his hands free to touch Warp, to explore his back and hold him closer. “D-dammit Warp, j-just answer me,” Shawn’s deep voice was lower, that breathlessness back that sent shivers of anticipation down Warp’s spine. “Why?”
Warp moved forward on Shawn’s lap to bring the fronts of their bodies in closer contact, hissing as despite the layers of clothing their lengths brushed against each other. Shawn moaned, hips moving to try to increase the contract. Warp’s head fell down, teeth finding Shawn’s lower lip and biting quick, hard, drawing blood to give a reminder of the claim he wanted to put on Shawn. How much he wanted to make Shawn his.
“W-why?” His voice was more a needy whine than anything else. Warp’s gaze locked onto the way his tongue danced over his swelling lip.
“S-someone told me it’s not a bad thing to let people with no masks be in my life.” Warp’s voice was shaky and husky from his own need. “And you… you’re the most real person I know,” He breathed.
Shawn had to swallow hard, trying to get both his mind and words back under his control, his hands tightened to fists behind his back. “S-sounds like g-good advice,” he breathed, not knowing how to respond to the compliment. “T-this your w-way of asking a guy out?”
“If it were,” Warp breathed, shifting atop Shawn again, “Would you say yes~?” he asked, lowering his head so their lips brushed.
Shawn bit his lower lip, Warp’s actions scattering his attempts of getting himself under control. His fingernails dug into his palms as he shook his head a bit. “R-remember that advice s-someone gave you? I-I could use less masks in my life t-too,” he rumbled voice still holding lust but a strong challenge in his tone as well.
Warp took a slightly-shaky breath and raised his head, moving his hips so they pressed intimately together again, wanting to wring another breathless curse from the other man, and his lips quirked into a smirk as he was not disappointed. He knew he was not only breaking his self-imposed boundaries and crossing lines, but he was shattering them, and he had to ease back, but he couldn’t resist pushing it just a bit further.
“….And what if I took the mask off, my dear Detective Shawn Wolf~?” he purred, voice low and in that same private purr that he had used earlier. “Or would you… arrest me~?”
Shawn parted his lips, not even sure what he was going to say – lust and desire swam in his systems, countered by anger at being abducted, suspicion at the offer, and confusion at Warp’s motives. A bitterness at the idea that the vigilante could be toying with him, that this might be another of his games, flickered through his mind.
Before the cuffed man could speak, Warp laid his finger across Shawn’s lips and gracefully stood. “Don’t answer that now, Detective,” he breathed, voice still heavy with his own desire. “Another time, perhaps~” he purred, and let his digit trail off Shawn’s lips. He held up a key for the cuffs, bright emerald green eyes sparkling with secrets.
Shawn took a shaky breath and glared, trying to ignore the feeling of loss when the other man stood. His gaze swept down Warp’s frame and he smirked, seeing that he wasn’t the only one affected by their nearness, before that dark gaze returned to Warp’s emerald one. “W-what, you just gonna l-leave me like this?”
Warp tsked and glided around behind the restrained man. “Hardly, Detective. I have every confidence that you’ll find your way free.” Shawn’s eyes widened as he felt the cool metal of the key pressed into his palm, then his eyes narrowed and he cursed as he realized that by the time he’d maneuvered enough to use it in the cuffs, the vigilante would be long gone.
“Such language~” purred that husky voice from behind him. “Welcome back to duty, Detective~”
While Shawn was cursing and still trying to maneuver the key, he barely caught the sound of quiet steps of the other man moving away and a whispered phrase that made him pause before he shook his head, sure he’d heard it wrong.
