FFN is ridiculous. I backed up all my reviews on my computer because I figure it's only a matter of time before I get booted off for something stupid. It's like they don't even try and be user-friendly. =/ Ao3 is the way to go now, I think.

I really wish I had thought to do that T_T I think that was the biggest blow to me, losing all those reviews I collected over the last two years *sniffles* But all I can do is hope that I can earn some of those reviews back, and collect new ones as I continue to write :)

FFnet really is a terribly-run site. I only use it for the readership. The owners of FFnet clearly don't care about their users at all, and their customer service is horrendous. I know AO3 might be unappealing to a few people since there is a wait time for invitations, but I hope people are willing to wait because it's so worth it. The website is fantastic and the support staff are wonderful people. I've gotten 3 emails from them in one day!! And when I was ending my email I told the person that it was a pleasure speaking with them, and I was being completely honest.

First off, your advice on writing is so unbelievably helpful. Secondly, what are your views on taking down old stories in whatever forum you post them in, because you're embarrassed by the writing? Should people take things down if it doesn't accurately depict their current level of writing, even though people have expressed how much they enjoyed it?

I'm so happy to hear that! I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to share some of my knowledge and experience with like-minded people :)

In terms of old stories, I believe first and foremost that the story is the author's work, so they get to choose what happens to it. With that being said, I'm generally of the belief that it's nice to keep up old work (especially if people say they like it, because that's awesome!) Trust me when I say that I know what it's like to be embarrassed of old work that you don't feel accurately depicts your current skill. I've been tempted to take down my old stuff, especially since my new stories have become more popular. But this is how I see it: those old stories show how far I've come. I didn't pick up a pen one day and suddenly write a fantastic story. I was shitty once haha. And even though my old stories are kind of embarrassing, it makes me proud to have them up there for anyone to see and compare to my current work. It's me saying "This is where I was, and this is where I am now. Look at how much I've devoted to my craft. Look how much love I've put into my writing, and how much I've improved. I'm forever learning and I'm proud of it."
