is skycards a gacha game? i feel like it's not really, since the planes you catch are actual real life planes with pre-planned routes that you can look up to see where they'll be in advance. plus it does take some skill to catch them even if it's fairly easy for most people with decent hand-eye coordination.

like as a mobile game it's definitely still a cash grab and i wouldn't call it ethical, but i don't think its mechanics are quite the same as a gacha game. i have seen it described as "pokemon go for airplanes" which is also not accurate since you would have to travel very long distances irl to switch airports and see different planes without using an in-game travel ticket; there aren't airplane gyms on every block. you can catch all the planes your heart desires without moving at all.

anyway it's the only thing giving me actual pleasure rn and it's really helping my outlook to have gone from not being able to get the plane in frame at all to getting a perfect catch most times. like oh yeah i can still learn new things, woah...
