"Vi står ikke i en kamp mellem islam og Vesten. Det er ikke en kamp mellem muslimer og ikke-muslimer. Det er en kamp mellem frihed for den enkelte og en mørk ideologi."
Yesterday, a public discussion about freedom of speech and freedom of press in Copenhagen was attacked. A swedish cartoonist, Lars Vilks, who drew Mohammed caricatures was participating, as well as Inna Shevchenko, the leader of FEMEN as well as Agnieszka Kolek, curator of the Passion for Freedom Arts Festival. One person died, three policemen were injured. Later, a Jewish man was shot in the head front of a synagogue (where a Bar Mitzva was held), two policemen were injured. Early this morning, the Danish police shot a man who is probably the person who was behind the two shootings.
The Danish State Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, stated that "we're not in a fight between Islam and the West. This isn't a fight between Muslims and non-Muslims. This is a fight between the freedom of the single person and a dark ideology."
