I'm not 100% sure but I think a buddy of mine Ryan Oakly has committed to coming along on this trip with me! This is great news! MOstly cos it means Ill have some one to talk to for the 2 week trek, but will also mean that it should shed some of the weight of me, albeit just a kilo or so as the tent weight is shared.
That being said, the book I have about this route, I think makes the most of accommodation along the way, so we may look at doing this with out a tent... yeah for the sake of a kilo each i think its best to take one....
Either way after my failed camping trip in Jan, to see if the gear I had would keep me warm or not, I have just changed my sleeping bag. I am now awaiting to take delivery of a Mountain Hardwear Lamina 20 This had added about 10C to my current bag, with a comfort zone of -2C I came very close to getting the AlpKit SkyeHigh 600, but I managed to get this bag for £65 as its in last seasons colours.... Who knew! Either way as saving of £45 over the AlpKit bag, and I don't have the worry of keeping down dry and lofted, witch for my lack of space it a something less i have to worry about.
I have also managed to talk my wonderful wife in to coming away with me in a few weeks to go for a 3 day walk over the North Norfolk Coast in a few weeks. Means I'll get to test some of this new gear out in the field. I'll tell you all about the planning for this trip in my next entry so until then....
