SKYEWARD AU: The Proposal

HYDRA betrayal? What HYDRA betrayl??? No idea what you're talking about...

-So Skye (or should he say Daisy) and Ward have been together for a bit

-Like it looks like they got together quickly but it feels like they've been together for years

-They're that couple

-And it's sickeningly adorable

-They already argue like a 50 year old couple

-And they act like they've been married loooong before they were married

-So adding a ring was just making it official at this point

-Too bad the proposal was a mess

-At first Ward has a set and clear plan

-The mission they're on ends in a few days

- And he's convinced everybody on the bus to leave and do something while he makes his move

-It came with a lot of poking and questions from FitzSimmons

-A stern but kind handshake with Coulson

-And a knowing look from May (was that a small smile he sees)

-But then their intel betrays them

-And they're on mission for a whole lot longer

-In captivity

-Did he mention that they were in Eygpt?

- "Good thing we didn't have any plans for anytime soon." Daisy whispers to Ward who's tied up right next to her on the floor

-Right

-Post Eygpt Ward still isn't deterred

-The original dinner and question didn't work

-So now he's gonna surprise her in bed

-Bed, breakfast and a ring

-It's perfect

-It's totally gonna work

-So one quiet morning Ward sneaks out of bed early

-And goes all out on her favorite breakfast

-Pancakes, eggs and bacon with some orange juice in a champaigne glass with a flower

-Not a daisy, he's not that corny

-Actually Daisy's favorite breakfast is cereal

-But the one she loves the most is discontinued so this is the next best thing

-He even has some champaigne hidden away for when she hopefully says yes

-He might've stolen it from May

-Not smart. He knows

-If Daisy says yes then he gets to die happy

-If he gets rejected May will put him out of his misery

-So it's a win-win either way

-Ward brings the food in a tray to their room

-The ring's hidden in his shirt pocket

-And he's about to open the door...

-When the safety alarms start blaring

-About 10 seconds later he sees Fitz running past him holding a plant on fire with Simmons at his heel spraying a fire extinguisher

-Fitz stops right next to him holding out the plant

-And Simmons lets loose

-So naturally the plant goes out

-And so does Ward's breakfast

-And himself

-Which is the perfect time for Daisy to come out

- "What's going on out here?" She asks stepping out of the room rubbing her groggy eyes

-"Just a minor complication." FitzSimmons say at the same time

-Because they're them

-Daisy gets a good look at Ward and breaks

-Which prompts FitzSimmons to start laughing too

-"Are those pancakes?" Daisy asks between laughs

-"...They were." Ward replies and no, he's defienetly not pouting

-"He made us breakfast! How sweet! He even got a fancy glass!" Fitz exclaims before taking the orange juice

-"Well that reminds me...I'm starving." Daisy says. "Who wants cereal?"

-And then she leaves the other three alone

-And Jemma sheepishly elbows Fitz who's confused

-And then he looks back at Ward

-And now he gets it

- "Uh-oh" they go

-"FITZ...SIMMONS!!!!"

-Third time's the charm right?

-Maybe Ward can just pop the question during a board game or something

-He hasn't let the ring out his sight

-Daisy's right in front of him

-Everybody's in another room doing something mind their business

-Why not now?

-So Ward decides to try his luck during the middle of their monopoly game

- "Hey Daisy...I gotta ask you something."

- "No you may not buy my property. Those puppy dog eyes don't work on me.

- "Yes they do." He says smuggly

- "Well not today they don't."

- "But that's not my question." Ward pauses for a second and grabs the ring box in his jacket pocket

-Should he be kneeling for this?

-No. He's wasted too much time

- "Daisy Skye Johnson..."

- "Grant Douglas Ward." Daisy mimics

- Ward smiles. "I was...I wanted to know if you-"

-The Bus's sirens go off

- "Oh come on!" Grant shouts at the ceiling. "What now?!"

-Coulson's voice comes over the overhead speakers "There are foregin invaders trying to board the ship. Possibly alien and hostile."

-There's a loud boom followed by a crash

- "Correction: Definetly alien and hostile. Very, very hostile!"

-Daisy looks at him and shrugs, "Guess it's time to kick some alien ass."

-It's been overt a week since the bus invasion

-They're all fine

-The aliens wanted to steal a weapon they had temporarily on their ship

-May and Ward stayed behind to fight them off while Coulson snuck Daisy onto their ship

-She quaked their ship to hell

-And FitzSimmons created cuffs to contain them

-But enough of that

-Ward still hasn't proposed

-But at this point he might just keep it to himself

-Thankfully no one's blabbed to Daisy yet

-Especially Fitz...or Simmons

-Plus none of his planned proposals have worked out

-So maybe this is the universe telling him to save the proposal or not do it at all

-Plus as long as he can have Daisy he's happy

-He'll take her in any way, shape or form

-As long as she'll have him

-"You mind getting your head out of the clouds right now?" May says into his headpiece "We're a bit busy."

-30 seconds later May is shooter a blast from the plane onto the beach

-He should explain

-Remember those aliens from before?

-They had friends

-Very angry trigger happy friends

-Luckily for the bus kids the aliens attacked during the day

-And May could do an emergency stop on a nearby beach

-Which is where they all were now

- Fighting aliens on a beach

-May's taking the aerial support trying to blast their opposing spaceship to bits

-Coulsons guarding the weapon they want inside the bus

-FitzSimmons are making as many weapons and cuffs as they can

-Daisy and Ward are on the sand

-Fitz gave Ward a special gun with a hell of a kick

-Daisy...is quaking everything apart

-Ward's so proud

-"How's it going on that tranquilizer?" Daisy asked into the comms

-FitzSimmons are also trying to make a nonlethal neutralizer that will knock out the aliens

-"Don't got it yet." Fitz answers

-"Get it soon!" Coulson orders, "Daisy and Ward are getting swarmed out there."

-"Yeah but we can handle it right babe?" Daisy asks Ward with a smile before punching an alien in the face

-"Always." Ward replies and blasts an alien in the stomach

-Jemma's voice comes through the comms "Okay we can't make a tranquilizer since we don't have enough DNA to work with but since aliens can hear higher frequency that humans we can alter the ships speaker to release a high enough frequncy that will incapacitate them.

-Daisy smiles, "Sounds like a plan. Do it."

-Jemma hesitates, "There's what problem...it'll affect everybody with alien DNA. It'll incapacitate the aliens but it'll hurt...and I'm not sure how it'll affect...

-Jemma doesn't need to finish her sentence

-Daisy

-"...Do it." Daisy says

-What?

-"What?" Ward repeats aloud

-Daisy ignores him, "Simmons I'll be fine. Me, Ward and May can't hold them all off much longer. Do. It."

-For a moment there's nothing

-Then aliens are falling to the ground

-And Daisy is clutching her head screaming and falls to her knees

-"DAISY!" Ward screams running to her

-She collaspes in his arms

-"SIMMONS TURN IT OFF"

-"I CAN'T! NOT ALL THE ALIENS ARE DOWN!"

-Ward watches helplessly as aliens fall all around him

-Daisy's eyes flutter close and her nose starts to bleed

-As soon as the last alien falls Ward yells for Simmons to turn off the speaker

-"C'mon Daisy...time to wake up"

-Daisy mutters something with her eyes still closed

-Ward leans in closer to hear

- "Marry me." She whispers

- What?

- "What?"

-Daisy's eyes open and she gives Ward a small smile "Was waiting...for right time...Will you marry me Grant Douglas Ward?

-Ward looks around at the carnage around them

-"This is your perfect time?"

-"...Good as time as any. Is that a no?...Or will you marry me?"

-Ward pulls her closer

- "Yes."

-Looks like Ward didn't have to make the perfect proposal in the end afterall

-"Awwww." Voices on the comms go

- "FITZSIMMONS!!!"

Top 10 SkyeWard Headcanons

Oooooh, okay. I love this. Hmm. I gotta do ten of them? Okay. Let’s see how this goes.

1) Skye totally stole some of Ward’s shirts over the time they were all on the Bus and after the Hydra reveal she never gave them back and started wearing them more but never told anyone and no one asked because they all secretly knew they were Ward’s shirts but don’t say anything.

2) It’s Skye’s own personal game to tease and mess with Ward every chance she gets while they’re on the Bus. She thinks it’s hilarious to see his reactions and he just reacts so well. And if some of that teasing has to do with her clothing, that’s her business ;)

3) Ward is actually a little turned on by Skye’s powers the first time he sees her use them. He thinks it’s incredible and she’s come such a long way from the wide-eyed Rookie he kidnapped from her van. 

4) Skye finds out somehow that Ward is a dog person and she tries to convince him that getting a dog as a mascot for their team would actually be a really good and that Coulson will totally go for it.

5) Sometimes Skye has nights where she doesn’t sleep well, thanks to all those years in the orphanage and foster homes, so she’s up all hours of the night. Ward notices and does his best to keep her company without her picking up on it, claiming that he can’t sleep either so he thought he’d go out to the lounge and read.

6) Sometimes Ward has bad nights too, thanks to all those years from his home situation and then in the woods, so he has nights where he’s up and drinking at the bar. Skye takes notice and asks if he wants to play Battleship because she “couldn’t sleep either” so she thought she’d do something to keep herself busy.

7) Skye is actually a lot more distraught over Ward’s apparent death on Maveth than she lets anyone in on. May is the only who really notices. She hasn’t worn many of Ward’s shirts anymore because she’s been with Lincoln, but she cries herself to sleep that night clutching one of his shirts. After all, he was still a big part of her life and she did feel something for him. 

8)  When Skye’s playing that game with Lincoln at Afterlife she looks happy enough but on the inside she’s actually dying because playing board games so freely is what she used to do with Ward and it just feels wrong.

9) After Skye sees Ward again when he’s working with Coulson to find her, she can’t help all the feelings that rush back to the surface. When she gets back to Afterlife she freaks out a little because she shouldn’t be feeling these things. She locks herself in her room and cries over him, which is something she hasn’t done in a while.

10) Ward had a hardcopy photo of Skye from their days on the Bus that he somehow managed to get after escaping SHIELD’s custody and he carried it with him while on the run. He doesn’t show it to anyone, or take it out when he’s around other people. Only when he’s alone does he take it out and apologize profusely to the photo, saying how sorry he is and how he wishes things could have been different. 

This was actually a lot harder than I thought it’d be. Some of these are headcanons I didn’t know I actually had until I started thinking and writing. And most of them are kind of depressing too. What is it with me and super sad/depressing stuff?

I tried to stay within canon of the show, because isn’t that technically where headcanons come into play? If it wasn’t within the canon of the show it’d be canon divergence or AU’s and I don’t really know what I’m saying. I should be packing to go home. And now I actually want to write some of these as one-shots. Help me.

Give me all of your skyeward cuddling headcanons.

Post Sex- Whether the sex is fast and rough or slow and gentle, afterwards they cuddle. Grant likes to spoon Skye. The feeling of having her warm and safe in his arms is indescribable. Skye, on the other hand, likes to lay her head on his chest. She loves the sound of his heartbeat. It’s soothing to her.

Comfort- Missions never go as planned. Most missions are successful, but the one’s that aren’t successful are nothing short of a cluster fuck. Everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. On the way back to the base and all throughout debrief Skye and/or Ward remain stoic as they were trained to, but once they’re in the safety of their room the mask falls. Ward usually changes into pajama pants and Skye usually slips on one of Ward’s black shirts and they spend the rest of the night wrapped in each others arms.

Sickness- Skye and Ward are both incredibly stubborn. Especially when it comes to admitting they’re sick. Ward will work until he all but passes out and Skye will hide somewhere in the base with her laptop, hoping no one will find her because she knows if they do they’ll drag her to her bed. When Ward is sick, Skye will make him some homemade soup (May taught her. It was her family’s secret recipe) and feed it to him before snuggling with him. Ward usually draws Skye a bath to help her relax and then make and feed her vegetable soup and grilled cheese.

Pregnancy- Ward never thought he would be that guy. You know, the one that marries the love of their life, moves into a house in Suburbia, and starts having kids. And even if there was an inkling of that idea in his head, he wouldn’t want his life to turn out that way. He has nothing but terrible memories of his family. And then everything that happened with Garrett…Ward is just terrified that he will fuck up any child of his like they fucked him up. So when Skye winds up pregnant, he panics. He tries to keep it to himself because she’s so happy and he doesn’t want to ruin that, but in less than 9 months, there will be someone relying on him completely. One night, in the middle of her second trimester, Ward arrives back from a mission late. Skye is already asleep and Ward tries his hardest not to wake her up as he showers and gets ready for bed. He slips into bed, kisses Skye’s cheek, and then gets comfortable. He thinks sleep will come soon, especially after that mission, but he finds himself staring at the ceiling fully awake. After almost an hour, he turns on his side and watches Skye sleep. She’s on her back, one arm resting above her head and the other cupping her stomach protectively. Gentle, he scoots down the bed and rests his head on her bump. He can hear their baby moving ever so lightly inside of her and suddenly all his fear and panic melts away. He wraps his arm around her and finds sleep instantly.

There's a lot of those AU prompt posts around tumblr and one of them has this prompt that's about loosing little sibling in Ikea and asking for help and I don't even know why I'm thinking about it right now (oh I know why, I should be studyuing but shhhh...) but I thought about Skyeward and Grant asking Skye to help im find his little sister. His description is pretty vague ('Brunette, red shorts, star wars t-shirt, I don't know, she's cute ?') so Skye's looking for some six year old and she's asking every little girl if her name is Rose (I think b-isforbombshell came up with this name and I like it) and she hears 'I'm Rose, who are you?' from around the corner. She goes there and she sees her sitting on one of those rocking toys , exactly like Grant described her: brunette, star wars t-shirt, red shorts, she's eating jelly worms and she really is cute... BUT HE FORGOT TO TELL SHE'S SEVENTEEN!

Remember the Grant-sings-to-pregnant-Skye’s-belly headcanon from yesterday?

When Haylie gets fussy and doesn't let Skye sleep he starts singing different lulabies (he spent two weeks on youtube learning them) in every of his languages and Skye goes 

'Grant, what are you doing?' 'Shhhh, I'm teaching her French'

Few days later Skye's working on her computer and she's saying out loud everything she types. 

'Skye, what are you doing?' 'Shhhh, I'm teaching her coding'

Why Ward is Never On Top

Ok so my theory is this with May it's because she's dominant, she has a need to be in control. She'd only relinquish that sense of safety to someone she trusted absolutely like Coulson. Whether you view Maywards relationship as something deeper or as spy tactic on his part, he'd respect that boundary. It's understandable given the field she works in and a haunted past that she'd feel this way. With Skye it's something different altogether, his canon feelings for Skye run much deeper. The way he can never take his eyes off her suggests he'd enjoy watching her during intimate acts. He's also very loyal to Skye, he trusts her implicitly he's willing to seed control to her because he loves her. He probably wants her to feel safe as well, given that he's much taller and of a muscular build he's afraid of hurting her. This way he knows she's safe and in control of the situation. I hope they eventually get to a place where his loyalty is a mutual thing.
