I'm Having Your Baby ★ A Skype Call
If you would have told Rachel five years ago that she would be rushing home from an impromptu rehearsal for a Skype call, she would have called you crazy. All the friends she had, excluding her fathers, lived in the city so she really had no need for a Skype account, much less a Skype call. But then again, that was all before she met Noah Puckerman for the second time in the life. Being with him wasn’t easy, especially now that he was stationed in Afghanistan, but the time they did spend together was like paradise for Rachel, and after his most recent trip back home, their moments together were even more perfect.
And, after all that time, Rachel definitely had something to tell Noah. Of course, spending most of their time doing Noah’s favourite activity had certain outcomes, and this was one of the situations Rachel didn’t believe she would be in yet. It wasn’t ideal, he was away and she was still trying to establish herself on Broadway (despite the fact that she was already the lead role in a musical) but she loved him, and he loved her, and they would love their baby when it came. Hopefully, he’d be back soon to be able to see his son or daughter grow up and hopefully, he would be online so Rachel could tell him this life changing news.
Rushing into the house, Rachel slammed the door shut and ran over to the computer to press the on button. Whilst it loaded, she walked into the bathroom and made herself presentable – the wind outside was rather strong and her hair looked like it had been thrown into a candy-floss machine. She glanced down at the floor and noticed that the bin was full, spotting the pregnancy test was sitting at the top, still showing the world its plus sign. She took the plastic tub, emptied it out into a bin bag and left it by the front door before she approached the computer, writing a note to remind herself to take the rubbish out when the call was over.
Then, Rachel sat herself down on the desk chair and wheeled herself over to the screen, staring as Skype loaded slowly. She found herself crossing her fingers and hoping that Noah was online, and she almost jumped with joy when she saw that he was. Quickly, she clicked his name and pressed ‘video call’ – smiling as the familiar noise filled the apartment. She couldn’t wait to see the look on his face when she told him he was going to be a daddy, and she was extremely glad they were finally talking again.
