Skype portrait started today with @ksenia.levina.studio who is in London. It was so nice to get up to speed on life since our studies in Norway! These portraits are becoming so helpful in composition study. There is something in a blurry webcam that resembles the imperfection achieved when painting from a live model. A portion of the details are softened enough to eliminate harsh lines that you get from still-photographic reference. The movements during conversation with each sitter allow for a choice of how to arrange features - like Mr. Potato Head.
