YALL ALREADY KNOW

Was thinking about Kayla’s family again of course. And thinking bout Miraak meeting them-I’ve had this initial meeting with her dad written out for a while so thought I’d share a tiny bit of that here hehe (damn I need to draw them all more smh. Got an mini animatic idea I might try to work on today with Kayla and her brothers being idiots ❤️)

“Pleasures all mine Miraak. You really are as tall as they described, if you were wearing a cloak one might think you were Altmer,” Azarain comments cheerfully, shaking his hand firmly before leading them down a hallway off to the right. “I suppose that would make sense for being half Atmoran though.”

“Y-you, how did you know that?” Miraak asks genuinely confused and startled.

“It’s my business to know, wouldn’t you agree? Kayla isn’t always thorough in her letters, which is where my own curiosity takes hold,” he shrugs entering a spacious and finely decorated living room complete with sofas, chairs, tables, fireplace, expensive looking paintings, and grand windows overlooking a beautiful green garden.

“This place is quite something,” Miraak mumbles taking in the views and extravagant interior, but trying to keep a tab on Azarain’s comment.

“Isn’t it? My wife has always been one for pretty things and my job has always been to help provide that,” he softly laughs motioning for Miraak to seat himself on a sofa. “Whatever makes her happy.”

Miraak cautiously seats himself on one of the couches across from him unsure how to compose himself in such a strange, grand environment and with the oddity that was Kayla’s father. He was definitely intriguing and Miraak, even after trying to absorb anything Kayla mentioned of him, had no idea what to expect the more he was within proximity.

Physically, Azarain was a quite a bit taller for a Dunmer, at least the ones Miraak had met, with an unmistakably toned physique. His body language was confident and oddly energetic acting all things considered. Miraak had only woken up moments ago in this strange grand house and wasn’t quite alert enough to comprehend everything around him-especially Azarain. The entire scenario was confusing him more and more as he observes Azarain subtly studying him across the way. Kayla undoubtedly must have inherited much of her unpredictable nature from him.

Azarain shared the same pale white silvery colored hair as Kayla and an identical mischievous grin. He presented a casual, very friendly demeanor that could easily fool the untrained eye or distract the unknowing as to the prowess he held for combat. Miraak held no doubts the man could absolutely on the spot have a dagger to his throat before his next sentence from what he was observing and what Kayla had spoke of him. A charismatic, amiable, playful demeanor from a charming welcoming man- a perfectly crafted guise to easily distract his lethal capabilities. An exceptional one to many and a blatantly alarming one to Miraak. It all reminded him so much of his bride to be. Even if Kayla didn’t necessarily appear to have inherited a majority of his physical Dunmer traits, there was absolutely no doubt or denying he was her father.

I have a new skyrim character cause I'm addicted to this game his name Ra'ranji he as the nerevar turned last dragonborn so he has been around for a long time as a khaijjt he seen a lot of shit and is kind of tired of the endless wars and death. But still he tries to stay optimistic

i think i could like. yap about my skyrim ocs juuust a tiny bit because as good as my original guys are, i'm having a lot of fun reading up on tes lore (as you can figure mostly on skyrim lore)

first we've got xul-ei, the argonian from southern marshes in morrowind. left for skyrim in hopes of making a fortune, didn't exactly have a goal in life until it got involved with the thieves guild entirely by accident. it prefers to take more of the... messier tasks, with its talent to kill you'd think it'd be better for it to join the dark brotherhood. wields a crossbow and a dagger. far from a serious fella actually, even if not particularly chatty. making jokes at the expense of others and getting into fist fights are its two favourite things to do. unexpectedly from someone from morrowind, really fucking racist towards dunmer. in the ongoing war, prefers not to take sides, because it never liked the empire and it hates nords because they're... also racist to the dunmer and argonians alike. got acquainted with arver after having had a drink with him at a tavern in winterhold and shit talked the dunmer a bit too much, and lost a brawl which it offered after having found out that it was talking to one.

speaking of dunmer, next we got arver, a dark elf born in raven rock and pretty much disconnected from his family due to ending up in skyrim at a very early age. became a vampire by accident and never really sought a cure or made a big deal out of it because why would he if his job is to kill and intimidate people anyway. yep, he's a mercenary. rarely ever spotted without a helmet and a whole set of heavy armor on that you'd think has fused to his skin at this point. technically lives near morthal, but rarely ever stays at home for long you'd figure. knows his way with words, but quick to pull out a scimitar or set on fire if pissed off. pretty serious fella. packs quite a punch even unarmed. kinda favours the empire because stormcloaks are, again, racist. though it's kinda funny to him that they treat him just fine as long as the armor stays on.

then there's loraviel, a snow elf born in skyrim. though people haven't seen snow elves in so long (presuming that all of them that aren't monsters are long dead) that she's able to pull off a lie that she's just a very pale and very sickly altmer. out of the generation of falmer that went underground, and changed her mind to go into hiding someplace else only after the dwemer had already blinded her. good at spellcasting, particularly in conjuration and restoration, and used to be a great archer until... well, yeah. rather quiet and soft-spoken, prefers to avoid conflicts because she knows she's not a great fighter and, most of the time, is at a great disadvantage specifically because of lack of sight. though sure, she has a good sense of smell and hearing. prefers to avoid the topic of falmer and their history altogether, because even though she cannot see what her race has become, she's heard enough stories about them becoming these sick, ugly, feral creatures. always travels with somebody else for safety, that's how she eventually met arver, and later on, xul-ei as well.

It has taken me a few weeks, but I've updated my Dragonborn Elyse's reference sheet!

Colour Palette

Overall, Elyse's colour palette is very much neutral with browns and beiges but with pops of yellow (which becomes particularly evident as she settles down with Whiterun and eventually gets together with Balgruuf), and her eyes being blue. There are also metallic silvers and golds.

Outfits

I won't go into her boots, as she wears the same dark brown pair that go up to her mid-calf in each of her outfits.

Main quest outfit

Here she wears her hair in a ponytail (this is the only time she does so, she eventually settles on having her hair in a bun or just down most of the time). She wears a dull brown/tan coat which is fur-lined (Skyrim is cold!), brown gloves, a satchel on a belt around her coat and waist where she stores alchemy ingredients and potions, and black leggings that tuck into her boots.

Everyday outfit

This is a simple outfit, one where her hair is tied up in a bun atop her head, she's wearing a pale yellow jumper/sweater, and a somewhat light brown pair of leggings.

Everyday outfit 2

This is an outfit which she starts wearing some point after moving into Dragonsreach. Her hair is down, wavy, and goes to her lower back, and she is wearing a long, shoulderless dress with long sleeves which partially cover her hands.

Armour

Elyse's armour is primarily the steel plate armour from Skyrim, but with minor adjustments such as having a yellow jumper underneath the armour instead of a dark blue one, and some pieces of the armour being altered like the gauntlets only covering the back of her wrists and hands, and the weird loincloth piece on it being a short fur skirt instead (quite like the Companions' wolf armour). On the gauntlets and the plates she has over her boots, there is a floral pattern based upon mountain flowers, leaves, and spindly vines etched in - just a personal little touch to the armour, as (with the help of Adrianne and Alvor) she made the armour herself and wanted to show that.

Accessories

Earrings

A pair of petal-shaped earrings bought for Elyse for her birthday by Balgruuf before they get together, because Dagny caught her eyeing them up at Fralia's stall and lets Balgruuf know about them. Elyse enchants them with a fortify magicka enchantment, so that they are both pretty and practical.

Wedding ring

Obviously, she gets her wedding ring after she and Balgruuf get married. It is just a simple gold band which matches Balgruuf's, because both she and Balgruuf don't need flashy rings to show that they love each other.

Scarf

Somewhat following a trend here regarding a certain Jarl, Elyse also has a brown, woollen scarf gifted to her by Balgruuf during the early events of The Perfect Storm. She was just recovering in the Temple of Kynareth after catching a bad chill and sickness from a plunge in the Windhelm docks, winter was fast approaching, Danica had ordered Elyse to stay warm, Lydia was out of the city getting some of Elyse's warmer clothing from Lakeside Manor, and Balgruuf thought it would be of use.

Amulet of Kynareth

Elyse begins wearing an Amulet of Kynareth after the battle for Whiterun, after injuries during the battle landed her in the Temple of Kynareth. Balgruuf leaves his wedding ring with her as a promise he will be back for it once the battle was over, and it gets put on the amulet by Danica to keep it safe. Elyse isn't the most devout to the divines, but after having been saved by the devout of Kynareth many a time, she does start to find herself more inclined towards Kynareth out of the Divines (alongside Mara and Arkay).

One detail not included in the reference sheet is her weapons (conjured swords which she dual wields, and her mother's bow).
