One of the most freeing things in the world for me as a TES gamer was the epiphany that if I don't want to actually make an OC all I have to do when making a new character is not give them a proper name.
One of the reasons I have so many OCs is that if I give them a name, I am compelled to invest time and effort into providing them a background and personality and figuring out what makes them tick.
Wanna avoid that?
Just name the fucker "TOTALLY NOT GERALT" if you really wanna make a Witcher, or "Captain Gimli" for your smol angury barbarian.
Play around. Not every click of "New Game" need be a long term commitment.
