there wasnt much shown but what do you think about Xenoblade 2? What would you like to see from gameplay to story to world (also it bothers me but i hope they refine the logo, sadly they cant remove the Chronicles portion for the west but eh)
A few spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles below, so read at your own risk.
To say that I’m excited would be an understatement. Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite game of all time even with some notable flaws, and Xenoblade Chronicles X came REALLY close to topping it, but was held back some truly dumb decisions. Fortunately, Takahashi seems to be aware of Chronicles and X’s flaws, so if he can take the best parts of Chronicles and X, and just tweak the overall product a bit, it really could be the best game ever made, in my opinion. Of course, I don’t want to get TOO hyped, especially so far from release, so I’ll temper my expectations until we get closer to a release date and get more info.
In terms of gameplay, I would like them to go back towards Chronicles’ battle system and away from X’s. I know they’re similar, but some key differences like overdrive and the soul voice mechanic, made them feel very different, with different priorities during combat. I think Chain Attacks was a great system and would like to see it come back in some way.
As far as story and world? Man, I can only speculate at this point and it almost seems pointless since we know so little about the game. From the trailer, it looks like the red-haired girl might be some humanized form of the blade the boy is wielding, if I had to guess. The sword also strikes me as very similar to the Monado (red laser sword with glowing colored center). Could this girl be a similar being to Alvis? Like I said, anything I say is pure speculation. As far as it being a sequel is it a true sequel that relates back to the main story? Or is it like a final fantasy title where each numbered entry is it’s own story and universe? Is this the world that Shulk created? If so, is it far into the future? If I had to give my preference, I would want it to be a completely original story and setting, or have it be so far into the future that Chronicles doesn’t really factor in so much. I really think Chronicles ended really nicely with good closure. I’d rather a story end on a good note than be dragged out for the sake of fan service.
Hope that answered your question. Thanks for the ask, I could talk about Xenoblade for hours, haha.
