I love playing The Elder Scrolls Online, I really do. Now, I love it for the quests for the largest part. I do the occasional dungeon and the occasional trial but for the most part I don’t really do group PVE stuff. I especially don’t enjoy doing the harder content in that which is vet dungeons and trials because it’s very frustrating to me.
But the thing that I despise the most about ESO and will avoid at all costs is the PVP and its zones, Cyrodiil and Imperial City. For one. I don’t like fighting against other players because I don’t find it interesting or fun when everyone is wearing the same like three sets. But I also don’t like the zone themselves.
Cyrodill is so big that I find it easy to get lost. Plus, the wayshrine and transitus system doesn’t work the same as PVE zones that it just makes getting around all that much more difficult in my opinion. In a PVE zone, I can just open the map and just go to a wayshrine in that zone or any other zone. But in Cyrodiil, if I am totally lost or just want to leave, I can’t just pick one of the two wayshrines in Cyrodiil and travel to it.
The transitus doesn’t help either because your alliance has to keep certain areas that get linked together to be able to use to effectively. Not to mention that leaving Cyrodiil is only possible from one of the two wayshrine which I think is stupid. Why is it that if I want to leave Cyrodiil I can’t just open the map, pick a wayshrine in another zone and just go there like I can in a PVE zone???
Something else that bugs me is why the hell does Cyrodiil have 40 skyshards??? There’s not a single PVE zone that has that many skyshards! Plus, there are sidequests in Cyrodiil and Imperial City as well. I find it’s too hard to do the quests and it can be difficult to get the Skyshards because you’re in a PVP zone. If I am doing basically PVE stuff in a PVP zone then there needs to be some options, something so that I do not have to worry about the possibility of getting killed by other players when that’s not what I am there to do.
My first suggestion is that since they already have like five instances of Cyrodiil then why not make a sort of PVE version where people can go in and just do the quests and get the Skyshards? Another suggestion would be to have an NPC you go to when entering Cryodiil or Imperial City that asks if you’re there to PVP or not and if you say you’re not then it makes you invulnerable against other players but not against the enemy NPCs or maybe just invisible from the people participating in actual PVP.
I get that this probably isn’t something everyone is going to agree with but given that the PVP zones have the bulk of the skyshards and some quests, it really feels like ZOS and forcing people to go into PVP even if all they want is to have all the Skyshards, lorebooks and sidequests for all the game zones. There’s supposedly a way in the PVP zones to signale to other players that you’re not there to PVP but, in my experience, it doesn’t work most of the time because other players just do not care. I have managed to get some of the Skyshards in Cyrodiil but only the ones in my alliance’s terrority. I have no idea how I am going to get the rest without getting killed a bunch and that irritates me.
I am sure that some will say to just not go in the PVP zones but given that there’s over 40 Skyshards in them, that is a lot of skill points that one misses out on. I can say for certain that on my secondary character, I’ll probably just use crowns to buy those PVP zone skyshards once I get them all on my main.
