Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection - Rey (Skywalker Lightsaber) by Ryan Valle
The Skywalker Lightsaber
Made by Anakin Skywalker, he wielded the blue bladed lightsaber throughout the Clone Wars.
When he fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader, it was taken by his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Many years later, Obi-Wan passed the lightsaber onto Anakin’s son, Luke Skywalker.
He trained with the lightsaber and used it during the Galactic Civil War.
The lightsaber fell into the abyss on Cloud City, presumed to be lost.
At some point in the next thirty years, Maz Kanata came into possession of the lightsaber.
The weapon had been dormant for a long time and finally awakened when Rey arrived on Takodana. The lightsaber called to her. It chose her for a reason.
As it’s a family heirloom, it is supposed to be passed down the Skywalker bloodline. Anakin’s grandson, Ben Solo, should have been next in line.
We now know that Rey and Ben are a dyad in the Force. The Force cannot differentiate between them as they are two that are one. They share the same soul. It calls to Rey because according to the Force, she and Ben are one and the same. She’s a Skywalker as far it’s concerned and next in line to take the lightsaber.
Rey was reluctant to take it at first, but it came to her when she needed it in the forest on Starkiller Base. The lightsaber was conflicted when both parts of the dyad called to it. It had to make a choice of who to answer to. And it came to the decision easily.
As it’s a light side weapon, because of Ben’s affiliation with the dark side, it chose Rey.
Rey still did not feel worthy of the Jedi weapon and tried to give it back to Luke, who refused it. She trained with it and began to feel comfortable with it in her hand. She eventually felt worthy of it choosing her.
In Snoke’s throne room, Rey and Ben fought over the lightsaber. Unlike on Starkiller Base, the choice wasn’t easy. In this moment, they were both equally balanced. Light and dark in perfect harmony. The light side lightsaber didn’t know who to answer to.
Instead, it broke in half. Two halves separated. Just like their dyad.
Rey repaired the lightsaber and continued to train and used it throughout the war.
When Ben returned to the light, the lightsaber finally allowed him to wield it.
The lightsaber whole again and the two halves of the dyad together.
Finally complete, as it was always meant to be.
hi! i love your art and fics, they’re amazing! would you be willing to take prompts that aren’t romantic ships? if you would be down with that, i think a drawing with obi-wan raising luke would be cute! maybe when he’s 12 or 13 and telling him stories about the jedi or teaching him about using a lightsaber for the first time? no worries if you can’t or don’t want to. thank you for sharing your awesome works with us!!
I... may have gotten a little carried away by this prompt. I love Uncle Obi-Wan raising/training Luke, it's one of my favorite au tropes 🥺👉👈
I did a few sketches, but wasn't really happy with any of them, so here, have the cleaned up lineart, I'm not sure if I'll finish any of these, but I really love these two so I might ♡
Being an Anakin stan is having a stroke anytime someone calls The Lightsaber Luke's or Rey's

“We have everything we need.”
Kylo Ren's hatred of her is quite mutual, as she succsessfully called Skywalker's lightsaber to her when he could not; as he believes the lightsaber was rightfully his, the Dark side warrior was quite willing to kill her to reclaim it.
(Sorry about the poor quality for the first pic) Here’s a sort of meta post for those of you who believe that since Rey tried to take the saber back, that she basically forgets Kylo for good: The picture of Rey: look at her eyes. She is so sad. She feels so badly about leaving him because she knows that she can’t go with him. She is disappointed that Kylo isn’t the man she thought he was- in the sense that he will return with her instead of wanting rey to join him. And look at Kylo: he is terrified. Terrified that she will leave him, begging that she will stay, reaching towards the saber- as if it were her. He doesn’t want the saber. It only reminds him of Luke. He wants her, and knows that she doesn’t want/ can’t stay. Sorry that this wasn’t too organized, I just wanted to get my thoughts out!
