While I didn’t find myself being as actively repulsed by it as you were, it is cathartic as FUCK to read this and realize someone else shares my problems with Fire Force. Some how, until reading this, I had yet to see anyone mention it’s absolute dog shit editing and directorial choices. I legit thought I was going crazy or was being too harsh because I was seemingly the only person watching the show who was voicing that problem
If there’s one thing I’ve really come to appreciate after talking about anime as long as I have, it’s that you can never underestimate how powerful is to have someone voicing opinions that aren’t the popular consensus. I can’t begin to describe how many times I’ve felt differently than the vast majority of anime fans and lost confidence in my own opinion until I found someone else who thought the same way. There is power in knowing you’re not the only person who feels the way you do, even for something as simple as your thoughts on Japanese cartoons. And if I can help other people feel comfortable in their own “unpopular” opinions like so many have helped me, then I figure I’m doing something right.
