Bang Chan comes down with a migraine and somehow Hyunjin knows right away.
Description of vomit
Chan groaned as he rolled over on his side, pressing his face into the comfort of his pillow. However the usual comfort he got from his pillow felt harsh today because the first thing he noticed was his whole body aching. The leader squeezed his eyes shut, bringing his hand to his face and rubbing over his eyes.
He felt so tired after yesterday's practice and spending most of the night in the studio. His exhaustion is probably coming from all the stress he had in the last two weeks, actually the last years. He doesn't know when it was the last time he had a proper break. To be honest he doesn't have it in him. He loves music it's his passion, the thing that keeps him going. Yes, working on it can be utterly exhausting and sometimes he questions himself why he still keeps going but as soon as he sees the light in Stays eyes he knows it was worth it. Sure he's a workaholic but its the one thing that keeps him distracted, far away from any bad thoughts. He knows what he's doing isn't healthy, especially if he works until he physically can't anymore, but to him it's the only escape. So even if his body is screaming at him for a break he won't take it. Today may was their day off but there's no way he won't spend the entire day and night in the studio, even if his head already feels like exploding.
If Chan had to be honest it was really hard for him to start the day, it took at least one more hour for him to actually stand up and It felt like he was standing beside himself, movements being sluggish and he had trouble focusing his vision. His hands feel weird, as if they’re tingling. He didn’t think much about it until he noticed the aura. This wasn't just a headache, it was the start of a migraine. He could work with a headache but not with a migraine. However, he had some medication against it. Usually he hates to take it as it's really strong and sometimes messes with his body but he needs to work on this song. It's dear to him and he needs to make it perfect and finish it before the deadline. He popped out one of the pills and took it, always having that part since he had to wait for the pill to dissolve in his mouth and he really didn't like the texture and taste of it. It tastes like menthol only it doesn't. Who thought it's a good idea to make pills like that?
Before leaving the dorm Chan felt like he forgot something. He doesn't know what it was. Maybe it was the fact that he forgot to eat something before taking the pills. As this strong medication isn't handled well with an empty stomach. Too bad he didn't remember what he forgot.
Through the day the pounding in the back of his head got only worse and worse and on top of that his stomach was cramping from time to time. It never felt like that, usually his stomach didn't feel like that. Of course he would get nauseous if the pain got too bad but his stomach never started cramping. Most of the time he would get sick without a warning. He doesn't feel nauseous right now. His head isn't even hurting that bad. Chan leaned back in his chair, placing one hand on his stomach and taking a deep breath. Maybe it was nothing. Yeah, he could just work through it. The medication would soon kick in and than. Wait medication.. Chan widened his eyes now realizing what he forgot in the morning. He forgot to eat something before taking the pills.
"Shit" He cursed under his breath. No wonder his stomach feels uncomfortable and his head is still hurting. He just hoped it wouldn’t get worse.
But it got worse. As the time went by Chan noticed how his eyes got more sensitive. The light of the screen was hurting him. He had to squeeze his eyes shut from time to time and massages the place between his eyes and nose. Eyebrows scrunched up in discomfort. The right side of his head throbbing in pain. As if someone sits inside of it and would hammer against his skull all the time. The pain wasn't always on the same level. Sometimes waves of pain would hit him and he couldn't help but wince while holding onto his head and waiting for it to calm down. Usually the pain waves wouldn't take long to subtle down to the usual ache but they got worse and worse as time passed.
The music through the headphones felt like someone was screaming right beside him. He had to turn it down. To be honest he just wanted to call it a day and curl up in his head but he couldn't. He just couldn't. His mind wouldn't let him, telling him he had to keep working. What if he wouldn't finish the song in the deadline? The logic part of his brain knew that he had plenty of time to finish it but even just thinking about not finishing the song in time made him anxious. He despites this part of himself. He wished he could be more relaxed about those things but he just can't. No matter how often he tried. After all he finds comfort in working even if his body feels it's on its breaking point.
Somehow he tried to focus on the screen but nothing made sense anymore. He had trouble forming anything good in his mind. The words stuck, his hands not working as fast as he wished they would and his eyes couldn't stay focused. By now it felt like someone was constantly smashing his head against a wall and every beat sounded like knives in his ears. His head pulsing, it felt like his whole body was vibrating. His ears were ringing. He couldn’t take it anymore. Chan put the headphones aside as he turned the music out. Every motion made the ache even worse and worse. He knew he couldn't risk walking home and possibly getting sick on the sidewalk in front of Stays. Maybe he could just curl up on the couch in his studio but that meant he had to stand up. He doesn't feel like standing up. Chan buried his head in his hands and took deep breaths. Sweat forming on the back of his neck. The throbbing in his head is getting only worse.
There was someone knocking on the studio door but he didn't have the strength to open the door or even tell them to go away. He wasn't sure if he wanted someone by his side or not. If it was one of the staff he sure doesn't want them to see him like this. If it was one of the members he wouldn't mind having someone stroke his head and tell him it's going to be okay.
Chan didn't notice how the door opened and how someone called him. He was too focused on his breathing and to somehow will the pain away. On top of that he got this weird feeling in his stomach. Nausea. He was nauseous, it hit him like a truck. A wet burp interrupted his thoughts and he put his hand in front of his mouth, pressing it on his lips. Immediately the person next to Chan reached for the nearest trash can. Just in time he held it under Chans chin. The leader lurched forward with a gag. Nothing but water gurgling and splashing into the trash can. Heaves after heaves followed. Making his head pound even more. He felt how someone was holding his hand and softly rubbing over it.
"It's okay Hyungie, just let it all out." It was Hyunjin. The soft sweet voice of Hyunjin.
The dancer could do nothing but rub the olders spine and whisper sweet nothings into his ear.
"Shh, there’s nothing in you anymore.” Hyunjin softly whispered against Chans ear.
The leader spit one more time into the trash can until he leaned back. Wiping his mouthame back into the room, having a glass of water and a cooling pack in his hands. He helped Chan over to the couch and also made sure that the leader drank at least half of the glass. Then Hyunjin joined him on the couch. Slowly he pulled Chan down so that now the leaders head was resting in his lap. Hyunjin put the cooling pad on Chans forehead and turned the light out.
Chan had his eyes closed but was still confused as to why Hyunjin knew exactly what was going on.
"Next time you decide to hide a migraine make sure not to leave your empty bottle of pills on the table. I was really worried." Hyunjin whispered. It wasn't the first time he witnessed one of Chans migraine episodes. Just most of the time Minho was the one to take care of the leader but he wasn't at home. However Hyunjin watched often enough to know what to do.
Chan smiled softly. "Thanks. It's not that bad. I-" He slurred. Having trouble to form words.
Hyunjin shushed him. Knowing how exhausted he may be. "I'll stay with you until it gets better."
Cgan could feel how Hyunjin started to softly caress over his head, playing with his hair and softly massaging his temples. Chan relaxed for a while, it felt good, helping him to focus on something else than the pulsing pain in his head. The coolness also helped a lot and his eyes were not being pierced by the light anymore. To be honest, only the presence of one of the kids made him feel comforted.
The migraine would last for a few more hours, maybe even the whole day but Chan knew he was in good hands. He could fully rely on Hyunjin and that is what he did until he felt good again.
