re: popping bearing shields off
shredwardgnartard said: when metal bearing shields dent, it puts pressure on the retainer and balls which leads to them spinning slower and eventually heating up. popping off the outer shield helps keep pressure off the retainer which means the bearings spin smoother.
zachhora said: Easier to clean. and with the shields on it traps dirt an in the long run they end up going slower. That’s what I feel at least that’s not proven or anything haha
slappy-hour said: I do a lot of skating in dusty places and keeping the shields on doesn’t really keep dust out. It actually seems to trap it in and slow down the bearings. For me it stays cleaner with the bearings off cuz you don’t get that dust buildup
is the toledo area the bleakest part of ohio would you say?
yeah not in terms of weather but in terms of being generally depressing
