That Capitol Coffee was back up and running felt like the cruelest joke to Denver. All her insistence that the Games in all their horror were what was necessary to make the infrastructure of Panem work had proved true. She was Capitolite scum to the Vox, and they had tortured her for it, and yet they brought back everything that scum like her had stood for.
But it would all be for nothing if the war that Denver had so recently left was never won. She wanted to be back at the front lines but she knew she needed to be here. Someone needed to tell the citizens of Panem that this was worth it. And no one on the T0MMY staff could write reports on the importance of the Hunger Games better than someone who had spent years doing just that. So Denver grabbed two coffees, and went to go meet Slate.
"Hey, boss," she said, feigning casual when she found him. They both knew this wasn't a casual situation. "Brought you coffee," she added, and handed it to Slate.
