Slave to the Algorithm

In this class we talked about how instructions can turn into art. We did this through an experiment where we exchanged instructions to recreate something we ourselves drew. Results were varied and was quite interesting to see how some instruction which didnt make perfect sense confused people.

After this we worked with processing which will take our instructions and make something cool from it.

Algorithm the master of Symmetry

The best thing and the worst thing about using algorithm’s to generate works is that we try to aim for symmetry. Unlike analog art works, using a computer program that uses words to generate images can cause users/artist to keep redrawing the same thing over again over being happy with the work and moving on and building something new. Algorithm is like a curse it causes us to never be happy with what we have we just end up giving up.

I find this video via playlist on Blackboard. It is really an interesting video, I have watched 3 times. The process of art creation is charming and fantastic.
