Jaydick Week 2021, Day 2: Mythology
Only the moon saw them when they walked into the forest, in a hurry for the time was scarce. Nights were short in June and none was shorter than the Kupala night. Jason longed for happiness and good fortune, Dick yearned for a smile on Jason’s face, so into the woods they went on that magical time, looking for the flower of fern.
No bonfires lightened up the darkness, no flower crowns flowed down the creek. In the sea of ferns, with the stairs as their witnesses, not a flower but much greater a treasure they found in each other’s arms.
(*Fern flower is a magic plant in Slavic mythology that blooms only on the shortest night of the year. Whoever finds it, is believed to get great fortune and happiness.)
