the way wwx looks at lwj in changyang's art >>>>>
My fave post-canon scenario is WWX returning to inventing some cool talismans. Lan Zhan makes sure Wei Ying doesn’t forget to eat.
i saw someone say nobody needs to know what a .txt file is anymore. what the fuck is the world coming to
unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school
things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)
how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem
what common file types are
some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service (hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)
what a cookie actually is
internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on
vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)
how to not get a virus while pirating something
what a temporary email is and when to use one
red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)
what javascript on a website does and how to disable it to get around paywalls
ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself
Announcement
Did you think you'd gotten rid of us so soon? We have arranged our schedule estimates for the 2026 MDZS Big Bang, and overhauled our Schedule, Rules, and FAQ pages!
We are running things a little bit differently this year, and we would really like to thank everyone again for all their patience last year! It was our team's first time running an event, and we feel so much more confident that this year, we can do an even better job!
The Team
To that end, we will be opening Mod Applications later this month. We would like to take in at least two new mods, with room for more if necessary. More information will follow in the coming weeks, but our organisation for this year will have a much clearer division of roles, so we'll be dividing out:
Writer Mod(s),
Artist Mod(s),
Beta Mod(s),
General event/social Mod(s),
to make sure that teams will have a key point of contact, as well as the mod team can delegate more efficiently. We will particularly welcome applications from artists willing to be mods, as this is an underrepresented role in the mod team!
Rule changes
There are a couple of rules that we are implementing this year to help us run the event a bit more smoothly, and to give clarity to all participants. The rules are listed on our Rules page, but this is a highlight reel of some key changes.
Discord will be mandatory for participation for this year. This will give you the quickest access to the mod team as a whole, and enable links to be located as quickly as possible. Email will remain our primary form of communication, and our socials will remain active throughout.
The eligibility document will be 3,000 words instead of last year's 2,000. The summary submission phase opens in April, which means that we expect participants who may be interested in writing for the Big Bang to meet this by April. If this is not enough time for you, then you may wish to reconsider whether you want to sign up for a hard-deadline event with a 10,000 word minimum. There is no judgement for knowing your own limits.
Our check-ins will be relabelled from 25%/50%/75% to 40%/60%/80% in line with the eligibility document forming as functionally a 30% check-in.
We will no longer be granting extensions requested during the check-in periods. They should be requested in advance.
We will not grant extensions for the purpose of meeting the check-in goals.
We will be stricter about lack of communication between teams, or participants and mods. We were too lenient on this last year, and we apologise and acknowledge that this resulted in some disatisfied teams.
There are more alterations, but these are some of the main ones that we are implementing this year to improve how we run the event. They may be subject to further changes as we get closer to running the event, and also in response to feedback from the community.
We are always open to constructive feedback, and you are more than welcome to send us an ask. Those of you in the discord server should not open a ticket to do this, as we will soon be locking down the server to "redecorate" for this year, in line with the mandatory discord server requirement.
Abuse will not be tolerated, and the rules we have in place we believe to be fair and representative of a good Big Bang, as well as in the logistical limitations that we can accommodate.
Please see our Rules, FAQ, and Schedule pages for a full picture of how we anticipate the event to run this year, and we hope to see you along for the journey!
We will be using the tags #mdzsbigbang and #mdzsbb26 throughout this event!

Is this a new AI trend or am I just extra lucky to get a comment like this on AO3
what the actual fuck
Hello???
It's AI! It's all over Reddit, but basically if they mention you being alone for Christmas, it's definitely AI. There have been HUNDREDS of comments that are just some variation of this over and over again; if you're ever wondering whether a fic comment is AI or not, check it out on Reddit, most of the posts are referencing these kinds of comments. It's fucked up, but the main theory is that recently, AO3 denied a bunch of tech bros the ability to train their AI systems on fanfic, so this is their revenge. They want you to stop writing. It's pathetic, just delete and block <3 I promise your fic is lovely!
Here's some proof of my above claims!

And that's FAR from all of them unfortunately. But your writing is good; it's a fucking AI hatebot who wants people off of the platform. Stay strong!! I'm so sorry that happened to you
Oh thank god
I hate to think that ao3 had such vile people (sure there are some rude or entitled comments) but NOT this
Thank you so so much for this clarification

Are you fucking kidding me? I don't know what's worse: the idea of adults choosing this behaviour out of spite or the fact that the general techbro reputation allows me to believe this might be true. Man, some people suck beyond words.
I let you keep that voice, Jinu. And you dare to mock me with it?
What if?
Jinu's salvation
"If the Yiling Patriarch is truly back from the dead, he will raise an army of corpses and decimate the cultivation world as we know it!"
Wei Wuxian, fantasizing about Lan Wangji cooking, cleaning, and maintaining well-balanced finances so they can raise a kid together and maybe also start a vegetable garden: Wait, I'm supposed to be doing what exactly???
Lan Zhan knows what he's about
Been in my wips for a while lol so what better time to post than pride month
I’d like to think that if Wangxian got their shit together during the Cloud Recess Study Arc that the Outsider POVs would be extremely different based on whether the person witnessing them was from Gusu or not.
*WWX teasing LWJ in the distance*
Non-Gusu Outsider POV: “Omg WWX managed to corrupt the Second Jade of Lan! How shameless must he be?”
Gusu Resident POV: *notices the LWJ Horny GripTM* “Oh fuck someone get the spray bottle. We must protect WWX virtue till they can get married.”
*LWJ leading an oblivious WWX away from prying eyes*
Random Lan Sect Cultivator: “Omg where are they going? Someone chaperone them. Call LXC. SOMEONE STOP THE SECOND JADE FROM DEFILING THE JIANG’S HEAD DISCIPLE PLEASE”
*LWJ suddenly grabbing WWX and making out with him*
Lan Xichen: *running after them* “WANGJI STOP. RELEASE. RELEASE.”
In conclusion: it would be hilarious if the Lans had zero faith in LWJ’s ability to keep it in his pants till marriage. Funnier if no one else could tell that he was the one that would be corrupting WWX and not the other way around.
Welp. Google's AI horseshit has arrived. And I'm not complying. They can pry my ID out of my cold dead hands. I will simply go elsewhere. Remember folks, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR IDs. Do not comply. Resist, fight it, use other browsers or sources beyond youtube and google controlled services. Call them. Email them. Make noise. Fight back.
I've been using Google as my main mail service since 2006, and every single account or service I've ever signed up for was made with that address. For a long time I thought it'd be impossible to divorce myself from Google.
It took less than 5 minutes to switch to a ProtonMail account, less than 2 hours to download and/or offload every byte of data from my Google account, and less than 3 days to change every single account or service I've ever signed up for to the new address.
As of today, the only single one I have that's still tied to it is YouTube. It's the only thing I'd lose access to if I deleted my Google acount entirely.
They really, really want you to believe that it's a hassle to switch to a different service. But it's not. Most websites and/or services allow you to change the email address associated with it.
I've been using Google for almost 2 decades and it only took a few days to move everything. It's not a painful sacrifice; it's an easy change that, frankly, has absolutely been worth it.
If you like watching youtube videos and aren't tied specifically to a youtube account, I recommend invidio.us.
It has its issues periodically, because it basically lets you watch youtube videos without actually going through youtube. But on the plus side, it lets you watch youtube videos without going through youtube, so any and all issues are still less than youtube would cause, imo.
Wei Wuxian is dead. Rejoice!
baby ayuan *sobs*
When Wei Wuxian woke up in some guys body and was like “I have to solve whatever this guy’s dying wish was or my soul will be torn asunder, but I don’t know exactly what the guy wanted,” I was like “oh yes I understand the plot. He will think the guy wanted revenge on this family but it was actually a secret other thing that Wei Wuxian will have to discover lest his soul be torn asunder,” and then the whole family dies in the course of a chapter and Wei Wuxian is like “cool! Mission done! Time to ride off on my shitty donkey,” and I’m continuing my trend of being completely incapable to predicting this author’s plot
Just watched the first episode of the show and I love the way that production was clearly like, “hey. actually it IS wild that ENTIRE plot line got solved by like page 50.”
Cuties ❤️✨✨
