Happy New Year. I just want to know about Hideyoshi's Act 2 story. Please and thank you.

Hello anon, and Happy New Year to you too!

As much as I love Hideyoshi, I think his sequel story kind of suffers from "trial and error" syndrome, where the writer doesn't seem to know what they want to write about LOL. There's too much history + plot + characters to cover, and not enough chapters to fit them all in.

Cut for spoilers.

The first few chapters start out with Hideyoshi having received his new castle in Nagahama. Owning a castle proper is a very significant status upgrade for a samurai so Mitsun starts fussing over MC having to learn etiquette etc, and Hideyoshi having to stop them from going overboard worrying about acting like the upper class.

Then they kind of go into his backstory, and his besties duo show up and joins the team. However, Honnouji happens and Nobunaga dies. Hideyoshi came back to fight Akechi, and then have a meeting about the future of the Oda. Hideyoshi and Katsuie ended up having a disagreement and then they have a battle. Katsuie is being helped by Ieyasu.

During the battle someone assassinated Katsuie, and I had thought Yasu did it LOL, but I don't think that actually is the case (sorry I kind of forgot some details, it's been 2+ years). Then Hideyoshi had to face Yasu in battle. Hide eventually got fed up of the fighting, and he suddenly becomes discouraged and not sure that he can be a good leader. He abandoned the battle and hid himself in his hometown, acting like a regular peasant. But then MC revealed that before his death Nobu had entrusted a very special gift for Hide.

Hide regains his confidence, because Nobu had acknowledged him as an equal, so he goes back to the battlefield and becomes the new ruler as Nobu's successor.

In the ending he built Osaka Castle and moved in there, and in some future events, the story will have him based in Osaka Castle as a ruler and no longer an Oda vassal.

As shady as he is, he’s also a lonely boy. He does some terrible things, that you can’t really expect forgiveness for, that I’m sure he’ll regret for the rest of his life.

Tsuki is also a boss and proves once again she can handle her own! She’s not some helpless creature that needs to be protected, she’s as much of a ninja as any of the guys. She can protect herself (and him?) and make her own decisions.

THIS WILL CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS!!!

IF you’re still reading, I take it as you want to read some serious spoilers. So don’t @ me complaining about spoilers, you’ve been warned XD

He is definitely NOT going to be everyone’s cup of tea. He and Tsuki’s romance is on the darker side of possibilities 

CONS:

•  He admits to using the Bewildered heart technique on Genya so that he would rescue MC. Meaning,HE USES PEOPLE as he sees fit. Red flag.

• He literally warns MC not to fall in love with him. Meaning, he knows he’s shady (that “terrible” personality Genya mentions). Red flag.

• He makes it clear that MC and he plot for revenge amuses him (He is a j/k king), meaning, this is a game to him/he’s toying with her from the start. Red flag.

• He calls Kiyohiro ‘This one’ and isn’t very kind to his familiar, Haku. Meaning his possibly detached from those closest to him or he wants to keep others out. Red flag.

• He thinks he knows everything and everyone. Red flag.

• He and MC do fight (literally) and it brakes my heart for both of them. 

If those red flags are things you want to avoid in a romance, his route is not for you. However, all three SoS routes I’ve played.. they’ve all tried to use Tsuki in one way or another. 

PROS:

• He sees Tsuki as capable of learning, standing on her own, and developing relationships within the Takugawa clan. Meaning, although he teases her about her lack of experience, he respects her and her talents to some degree.

• He made it so Tsuki would get an audience with Ieyasu, which is almost impossible, even in Ieyasu’s route.

• He doesn’t think twice about helping others that are less fortunate. Sure he and the lord he serves have something to gain from it, but he ends up helping people who don’t know him as Ieyasu’s healer. So what does this mean? Somewhere in there.. he has a kind heart?

• He understood that Tsuki and her clan worked hard to live a life where they could heal others, not kill them. So when he stopped her revenge plot at the last possible moment, It wasn’t amusing anymore, I think he really was trying to preserve her way of life.

• His Epilogue is so sweet, I may have a few cavities now. He has some growth in terms of letting his guard down a bit with Tsuki and stopped acting like life is a game of Shogi all the time.

he has other pros but you’ll have to be able to read between the lines on a lot of his actions as @otohoe has said.

GREY AREAS:

• CH.11 UGH. boy is a yandere and it comes out swinging here. I’m on the fence about this one tbh..

• Poison. Poison everywhere. Not really a bad thing or a good thing. It just makes me nervous if they stay together for the future gen. (His clans way of life is terrible from birth).

Again these are just my takes on the events that happen within his route. I’m sure other people will take it differently and that’s cool. we don’t all have to like or agree on everything.

SO IN CONCLUSION, FOR ME, UESUGI KENSHIN'S DESTINY ENDING IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL YET PAINFUL ENDING EVER. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. IT CATCHES ON MY HEARTSTRINGS. THAT'S IT. 😭❤
