Things had been interesting at the shop for the last couple of weeks. For starters, it seemed like they couldn’t keep anything even remotely related to fantasy in stock — fantasy and bibles were his number one sellers at the moment and it was the strangest combination of people he had ever met in his life. 

With the uptick in sales, and therefore customers, Jonah found placing twice as many orders than he usually did which prompted him to put a help wanted sign in the window to help keep on top of things. When the bell above the door jingled, he made his way to the front, hoping for either an applicant or his latest shipment of books.

Eve stood firm against the shivering cold that was threatening to peel at her layers and her vision. As soon as word got out about what was happening around the world. About the blight that has truck them all, Even knew she couldn’t just sit idly by and let humanity be ripped apart by demons in their midst. Was it not her sworn duty to be God’s sword? To wield her words and her body for his needs?

She put her name down on a piece of paper of those who would travel the nation, trying their best to win back the soul of the world against godless heathens. Those who would rather practice witchcraft than lay down their wicked pieces of wood and look towards the true master of the universe.

Bundled in her arms were flyers, telling people about the good works being done by the Anti-Magic Coalition. Their determination to rid the world of snakes in the garden. She shoved one viciously into the arms of anyone who passed by, whether they cared to look or not. Surely this would be enough for everyone to know just how important she was. The power she might someday wield in His name.

“Join the righteous cause! Revelations is here! Now is the time to act against those who can control us with their minds!” It was a good thing she was pretty, otherwise she might as well have been speaking against deaf ears.

Emma Vanity didn’t mind heights. In fact, she was rather fond of them most of the time, due to her time spent as Quidditch Captain, and other instances where gravity seemed the least of her concerns. Being stuck in a high rise hotel during strange earthquakes, however, created a fear where there had been nothing. Logic won out, as it usually did with her. But that just meant she was bossier than usual, trying to decide if it was best to be on the ground floor where they could easily be crushed, or the top floor, where they could tip straight over.

“We need to raid as many of these rooms on this floor as we can for supplies. Anything that might seem of use, grab it.” Who knew what would happen? Who knew what might become of them, or when they might be saved?

Doc had kneeled down on the ground next to someone, offering up shushing, soothing words, the best he could manage. From their shaking, he knew that fear would be the greatest obstacle during this event. That somehow they had all found themselves in the kind of disaster that seemed truly biblical, though Doc had never actually read anything about Noah’s Ark. 

“Hey, you haven’t got anything to worry about. The water’s going to recede, and I’ll make sure you get home safely, yeah?” Promises seemed like a bad thing to make, but it was better than leaving the people around him suffering alone. They were all tied to one another inextricably by circumstance, and he wasn’t going to give up the opportunity to make another connection. They could be so fleeting. So easily swept away in the current.

The loss against the PRETTY LITTLE PIXIES stung, but not in the same way from matches at Hogwarts and even the Puddlemere Institute. The intramural league breathed an ease into the sport, a lightness so high that even a loss couldn’t yank Gideon to the ground. So it was unsurprising that his face wore a smile, and that he spent no time mourning the defeat. Pulling out his wand, he summoned the keg of beer, kindly donated by Faintly Wronski after a decent amount of convincing on Gideon’s part, and began ushering players and fans alike to pour themselves pints. When he finally filled his cup with a golden ale, he sighed—quite happily. 

“I reckon it was the orange slices before the match that did us in.”

Florence had been mulling over Killian's words for the better part of a month now. Flip flopping back and forth on whether she wanted to go forward with an anniversary party for the sanctuary. Going over the paperwork she discovered it was entirely in the budget and would likely bring in even more donations so that she might provide even better accommodations for short term creature stays. “What do you think? Would it be inappropriate to hold an anniversary soiree for the Sanctuary with everything that’s been going on?”

“If I want to stop, I can.” Holliday reiterated to herself, not realizing somebody else stood beside her now. If you caught her on a different evening, she might’ve been worried when the light post outside her AA meeting didn’t guide the way for anyone. Instead, she was encapsulated with darkness and was feeling reckless. Nobody’s tales had did it for her tonight. Neither did her own. She swallowed the feeling of shame and puffed further on the cigarette.

“Ded you know there’s this thing in the Department of Mysteries called ‘The Veil’ and as part of our training in Magical Artefacts we get to study it but we cannae get too close cause if we go through, there ain't no coming back. It’s like a one way portal to the bloody underworld.” Lex rambled on to his neighbor in excitement for the event at hand.
