I always have to think too hard about these things.
I can keep a secret like nobody's business, no pun intended. I don't like to gossip and I try to avoid it whenever possible. I am a good cook when I apply myself and I can bake a really, really good apple pie. I (usually) like my own artwork and try to value my own talent. And I try to give support to other artists and help them value their own talent as well. And I'm kind to animals? :)

2. Favorite Disney film ever - I have a definite soft spot for Beauty and the Beast.
3. Last time you cried - I just finished the final season of Breaking Bad. It was heart-wrenching.
4. What would you do if you suddenly ended up in the desert - I would return my water to Shai-Hulud rather quickly, I think. I'm very pale.
5. Would you like to meet me in person - Of course, clarice82, you are a sweetheart.
6. Do you have any kids? If not, do you want any? - I have no children. maybe? Highly dependent on circumstance.

8. Last dream - I don't remember many dreams. I do have recurring dreams about an underground (literally) shopping center that exists nowhere but in my dreams... and I remember all the various shops and restaurants. I also have recurring dreams of San Francisco... kind of an AU version of it with even more weird wonderfulness than is already there, and I know all the streets and districts like the back of my hand, and I walk through it rapidly and endlessly. Those are happy dreams.
9. The meaning of life is...? - if I ever find out, I'll let you know. Or will I. I think it is different for everyone.

I am going to make this book/literature themed because whynot.
1. I work in a bookstore, and my go-to recommendations for young adult books that can also be enjoyed by adults as this is a fairly hot thing right now are Garth Nix-The Old Kingdom trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen) and Diane Duane dduane 's Young Wizards series. They're both fantastic.
2. In high school I became obsessed with J.R.R. Tolkien, but also Percy Bysshe Shelley (and other Romantic poetry). I was and still am rather dreamy-headed.
3. I am staunchly in the camp of rereading. I will read favorite books again and again, and love them even more for it even though I know what's going to happen. There are even some favorites that I have read too many times and I will have to wait years to read them again and I almost can't wait till that day I can stand to do so.
4. My first graphic novel was Out from Boneville by Jeff Smith, and then it was the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman and a host of wonderful artists, and then I was lost for good.
5. I mostly read fiction and could seriously talk about it all day though I'm not much of a talker.. but my most beloved nonfiction read might well be Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire. He's quite the curmudgeon and it is such a beautiful book. (Of course I might give you a different fave if you asked me tomorrrow as I'm lousy at favorites).

sub!sherlock. or sometimes sub!john. shhhhhhh i'm really really desperately shy about my smut fic likes but yeah, that's the trope. So Then.. Favorite non-fandom (I assume non-fanfic is what is meant?) authors include (cause I can't pick a favorite ever ever ever of anything)... J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, E.R. Eddison, William T. Vollmann, Tom Robbins, Christopher Moore, Diane Duane, Storm Constantine, Tove Jansson, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, Dan Simmons, William Shakespeare, Ray Bradbury and others I'm surely forgetting.
2. Have you ever tried to convince people to call you something other than your given name? What was it? Or: you’re bodyswapped for a week and you have to pick a different name to go by. What name do you choose to go by?
I feel odd, I have utterly no idea. I've always loved my given name so i never had an 'I wish my parents named me this' name... never really had a nickname that stuck either, or that I really cared about having stick.
3. Do you wear or keep on your person anything that’s secretly fannish?

This is the question I've been thinking about on and off all day. it's making me feel like I'm in Dream (of the Endless)'s library of all the books that could've been but never were. I could really go to town on this but I'll try to restrain myself. Since this is totally fantasy, I'm feeling free to commission a dead author... Sir Arthur Conan Doyle could write me a nice serial of Victorian!Mulder and Scully, when they were still working for Torchwood in the organization's early days. That would be so much fun. I would love to read a Sherlock crossover set in Fritz Leiber's seedy city of Lankhmar... or China Mieville's New Crobuzon. I have no idea what either of those would look like, or who the hell would write them, though... bendingsignpost is an absolute favorite author of mine, and a master of au's, so perhaps they would. bendingsignpost could also then write for me Abhorsen!John and Clayr Librarian!Sherlock (Garth Nix's Old Kingdom books(so so so wonderful)), or really anything dark, twisted, gritty, hardboiled and Holmes. Or I would beg, plead, hire muses, and spend all my money for wordstrings to write more of their Paradox series as i love it dearly. <3

Long before I even knew what it meant, I was shipping Mulder and Scully, so very hard.

Probably a redo of my first year at art school, and I would change my major from fine arts to illustration. And since I have a compulsion for 'and' instead of 'or'... favorite dessert - creme brulee, strawberry shortcake, and really any delicious fancy cake. especially if there's booze in it :)

Why are so many reading that SherlockiansBePositive post (the "You" one) in the Doctor's voice? I don't understand. You did it, too... Can you explain? Please? I am a bit confused about it.

It just seems to jive with the way the Doctor feels about humanity. The Tenth Doctor was always telling unexpected things how gorgeous they were (I love that). Also, Eleven says "900 years of time and space and I've never met anyone who wasn't important." One of my favorite things about Doctor Who is the importance of the actions of the individual despite the overwhelming vastness of the universe, and unflinching optimism in the face of very poor odds (I'll leave that essay to someone wiser and more articulate and eloquent than me). I hear this post in the voice of the Tenth Doctor (perhaps because he is my Doctor), but I'll finish with a quote from Eleven: “I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”
