Can you do some addiford fluff?
Cas and Sam cuddling on the couch and Cas playing with Sam's hair. He is just running his fingers through Sam's hair and watching as Sam closes his eyes because of the contact and leaning into the touch. This makes me happy.
I AM HERE FOR THIS
After hard hunts it’s probably harder for Sam to relax because he’s running on adrenaline so he just fidgets until Cas cuddles him and does all of the above. Sam just gets lost in Cas’ touch until he calms down and his muscles relax, and they spend the day on the couch, Sam sleepy and content with Cas’ fingers in his hair or his hands massaging his back.
Sam probably loves having his hair played with.
Entry 32
Flying home with injured dragons is no easy task.
Rill wasn’t a problem, of course. She simply clung to Nova’s mane for the ride. But Valen, being four times her size and at least a hundred times her weight, was a bit more cumbersome. Lily and I each held an arm while Arc and Nova held his legs as he tried his best to glide in his battered state.
By the time our home was in sight, the sun was beginning to rise. Exhausted though we all were, the fatigue was eclipsed by our giddy relief to have all our clanmates back safely.
We soared through the entrance en masse, skidding a fair bit on our weary legs before letting Valen down. Rill untangled herself from Nova’s mane before fluttering awkwardly down to join the mirror.
The fire was still well tended and crackling away, though those who had been maintaining it were fast asleep. The two dryads were sitting slumped against the wall side by side, Acacia’s head resting on Maple’s shoulder.
Cassian was much the same, draped partially over a snoring Cerris. He seemed to have fallen asleep in the middle of wrapping a bandage around his charge’s arm.
I was surprised at first to find them all sleeping. But given just how late it was—not to mention what poor states Cassian and Cerris were in—I couldn’t blame them. I could hardly stay upright myself.
“Let’s get to bed,” I said quietly to the others. “We’ll explain what happened in the morning.”
My bleary-eyed clanmates were more than happy to oblige. Arc and Lily helped Valen over to his bed and gave their son one last crushing hug before heading down to their den. Rill was unable to fly to her usual perch and curled up beside her teammate instead.
Nova flopped down in bed and I did the same, curling up in my bed of mosses and grass. I was unable to suppress a groan as I stretched my screaming muscles. Gods I was going to be sore tomorrow.
“Wafer, Nova…?” Valen whispered hoarsely.
“Mm?” I muttered, already beginning to doze off in spite of myself.
“Thank you again for finding us.”
“You don’t have to thank us for that,” Nova mumbled into her bedding.
“That’s right, we’d never leave anyone behind,” I added softly. “We’ll talk more about things tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay,” he croaked before shutting his eyes.
I heard no more from him after that. He must’ve fallen asleep almost immediately.
In his place, someone else stirred.
“Mhhwhaaat?” Cerris keened in a childish voice that I’d never heard from him before. The vacant look in his eyes as he glanced about told me he wasn’t quite awake.
“You’re back? When did—” he still sounded as lost as before until he noticed Valen and Rill sleeping peacefully nearby. His eyes lit up with realization. “They’re oka—” he began elatedly, but then his brow furrowed. “Wait, how the hell’re they in better shape than me?” he grumbled, sounding much more himself.
“We found them, Cerris. Everything’s okay. Go back to sleep before you wake everyone,” I hissed.
Cerris gave me a look that was equal parts angry and tired before resting his head against his arms and dozing off. Cassian stirred slightly, but didn’t wake or slip from his makeshift pillow of a mirror.
I let out a sigh and tried to get comfortable once more.
I was too damn tired to deal with anything else.
