Would you maybe be interested in writing something about little Logan having a nightmare and going to the reader or Gambit for comfort?
done!! hope ya like it anon :D
a small preface: i have a headcanon that logan calls remy "mama" when he's regressed, i hope this doesn't bother anyone!!
Nightmares were common for Logan. Nearly every night he was terrorized by flashes of memories that weren't his own, echoes of voices he didn't recognize, and agonizing pain under his skin.
Tonight was no different. He woke up with a scream, chest heaving as he gasped for air. He gripped the sheets with a force, claws jutting out of his knuckles and stabbing into the mattress.
He looked around the room wildly as he caught his breath. It was dark, lit dimly by the moonlight shining through the window, but that wasn't an issue with eyes as sharp as his. He quickly realized he was in his bedroom, alone.
He retracted his claws. As he took a deep breath, he was suddenly aware of a wetness on his cheeks; he was crying. He wiped his face with his hand, but it didn't do much.
Logan sniffled, felt his lip quiver. His heart was racing and it refused to slow down. Why wasn't it slowing down? Why couldn't he stop crying?
Where was his Mama?
Logan flung the covers off himself, crawling out of bed and stumbling towards the door. When he opened it (with a creaking noise that hurt his ears), he found an empty hallway. Everyone else was still asleep.
His Mama's room was just a short trip down the hall, and though it felt much longer with Logan's small steps, he eventually made it to the door. He brought his hand up to the door and held it there for a moment, before knocking twice.
He heard the bed inside the room creak. Then a loud thump, followed by a pained groan. Footsteps against the wooden floor.
Then the door opened, revealing Remy on the other side, pajamas rumpled and hair messy. He was still blinking sleep out of his eyes.
"Logan-? Are you okay?" Remy questioned, his voice husky from just waking up.
Logan found himself looking down at the floor, as he fiddled with the hem of his shirt. "No."
"What's wrong, cher?"
"N-Nightmare," he managed to stutter out, another wave of tears flowing down his face.
"Oh, you poor thing. C'mere," Remy murmured, pulling Logan into his arms. He squeezed Logan tightly as he cried into Remy's shoulder.
"You alright, Remy gotcha. Ain't nobody gonna hurt you while I'm here, I promise," Remy soothed, running his hand gently up and down Logan's back.
They stood there for a moment, Logan clinging to Remy like a lifeline. But eventually the crying subsided, and Logan lifted his head up, taking a step back.
"'m sorry Mama. I didn't.. I didn't mean to-" Before Logan could fully articulate himself, Remy hushed him.
"You don' gotta apologize for nothin', cher. C'mon, let's go lay down. Too late for lil ones like you to be up."
Remy took Logan by the hand and pulled him into the room, then into his bed, tucking himself and Logan under the covers. He didn't bother stopping Logan as the little one slipped his thumb into his mouth.
"This alright, cheri?"
"Mhm..." Logan hummed around his thumb. It seemed like the panic had finally dwindled away. His heart was slowing down again, and he could hear Remy's heart too, beating steadily next to his. A comforting thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump.
Logan almost didn't want to fall asleep again. A part of him was scared that if he did, he would hurt his Mama. But it wasn't long before his eyelids started to droop and his brain became sluggish, clear signs of his tiredness.
He ended up falling asleep anyways. But he didn't have that same, horrible nightmare. And he was sure it was because he had his Mama there to protect him.
