mollyhall! i saw one of your poems on my dash like three years ago, then read everything you've ever written and have been following you ever since! you are such a source of positivity, and i'm currently going to school in boston and living that Hockey Life, and a well informed hockey life thanks to you! hope everything's going well!!

oh god. poetry. y’all gotta let me pretend i didn’t do that. y’all gotta be like, “wow, that’s so raw and organic and clearly from the heart,” very politely, and then loudly talk over me every time i try to recite something.

i’m thrilled you are in boston and in school and living a hockey life, even though of course as (presumably) a bruins fan u are my enemy. but i still love you.

what i think is so interesting/ important tho is how they all reacted. gary full on said live “perrie should be the lead singer” (and if it got that far i’m sure producers were pushing it for weeks) and she so quickly said “no we’re all leads” with the other girls as backup. with one direction there was so much emphasis placed on liam and harry i think x factor knew it’d be easier to publicize and sell one or two personalities instead of four or five. luckily the girls were never split as badly

YES! The fact perrie and them all stood for each other as equals, as well as Tulisa (at least by word), was really great. Because they really were and still are all leads.

What’s a pity is that those words of union and togetherness weren’t showcased in their later performances. If anything, after that comment Perrie got more solos and the rest more and more background roles only. So yes, I whole-heartedly believe too the producers had a hand on that.

I don’t think perrie ever took a step back (besides obviously the time off to recover physically). Honestly every work I’ve seen from their x-factor win and forward has been divided as fairly and equally as possible, with shinning moments in records and live performances for them all. It’s only the x-factor time that I’ve seen the issue be so blatantly obvious.

I don’t think anyone’s a lead or that a non-fan would think so by listening to their music nowadays or watching their videos or live performances. And am so happy they’ve worked and put an effort towards this, instead of letting themselves be pushed around or convinced of those producers’ idea.

(honestly I’ve never followed one direction so I can’t talk about their journey, but it does sound plausible, them highlighting someone to ‘make it stick’. maybe that’s what they were attempting to do with pez. I’d file this under yet another useless and unnecessary copy-paste method tried in reality competitions)
