I'd like to think that Barnabas made Sleipnir as human as possible because he knew there'd be no human who could put up with his antics or because he never saw humans as an equal, or simply because humans pissed him off. So yeah, "That's my self-made human right there, don't be shy, he won't bite you. You don't deserve it."

Now that I look at it again, Barnabas only lifted his sword when he fought with Dion, when the Kanverians annoyed him, and when he wanted to test Clive throughout the near-end of the game. It's just like, I can't help but assume if the king himself personally wants your life, you're either so annoying or so precious for him. What a balance. As for Sleipnir? He's the one who took care of the mess before Barnabas handled it. What a #GoodPartner

Wonders of Waloeders, the reason why they're COOL

Can you imagine those popular kids where they tend to start everything? Yes, that's them. This whole thing in a game is a chain reaction from their decision. Let's see, Barnabas found Cidolfus, Cidolfus served Waloed, Cidolfus found Benedikta, Benedikta served Waloed, Cidolfus left Waloed, everyone was pissed off specially Benedikta, Barnabas and Sleipnir utilized that condition to use her further, Benedikta became too dependant, Benedikta continued her mission then befriended Hugo, Cidolfus who was starting new life somehow found Clive, Cidolfus gave his legacy to Clive, Clive continued Cidolfus' legacy, Benedikta with her condition now started to seek Clive, Benedikta found Clive again, Clive fought Benedikta, Benedikta died, Sleipnir (probably?) sent her corpse to Hugo, Hugo got mad....and so on. See? This all started because of them, directly or indirectly, which is super interesting. It doesn't mean I don't see other characters' contributions, it's just, Waloeders are so unique on how the consequences of their action and strategy ended up affecting more people.

One thing that makes me love Odinpair so much I wrote 14 fanfics for them, is that they're just men doing their job! Look, Sleipnir is just a servant and Barnabas is the king, very simple. Then, when you look at them deeper, Sleipnir is the extension of Barnabas and Barnabas is a man who can't trust humanity anymore yet is trusting enough to let Sleipnir take his role, making their relationship entirely unique and exclusive. When you continue, you realize that Barnabas trusted Sleipnir so much he let him handle Clive who's the vessel that he wanted to present to Ultima. The king trusted him so much he assigned Sleipnir as the lord commander. Yes, I know some might be overreaching but the point is, I love them. Sleipnir is Barnabas' entire second chance, the Egi gave him things that Barnabas couldn't dare seek anymore from human due to his past, comfort, partner, and trust.
