Just some slice of life <3 Inspired by their outfits from the animated short "The Final Patch"
'A mother's laugh'
When the messenger told his Athenide friends of his relationship with the nymph Dryope, some expected a reproach for the gods' carnal proclivity as he had not married thus not applying the coupling vows Loyalty often insisted on the importance of. Courage suggested the news be told delicately to Reason for motives unexplained to the Luck-Bringer and boasted to his older brother they'd worried for nothing as Khrysopteros merely wished him well in his time spent with a new partner. Truth stated they'd wait for Guidance to see what was in front of him.
As is often the case with affairs, Dryope swelled with child and was much excited for the arrival of a new god or goddess that would raise her own worship as Hermes had done for Maia. She even managed to convince her Olympian suitor of the virtues in wedding her after the child was born and asked fire-kissed Arsinoe for help weaving her marriage veil to which the goddess replied "Of course. But only after I've finished the fasciae for your godling".
It is fortunate that Common Sense did not get to weave matrimonial garments for they would have most likely been cursed after Dryope's immediate disgust upon seeing her son Pan. Eileithyia's confirmation of the baby being in perfect health did nothing to convince its mother to nurse or even hold the "ugly goat" and Hermes' own attempt towards softening her behavior led to her asking he kill their "ill-begotten monster" thus resulting in her abandoning them both as he called her mad for suggesting such a vile action.
Unlike Dryope, Guidance was delighted at the peculiarity of his newborn son and took him to be blessed at the fireside of his aunt Hestia. Hearth was equally happy to be presented with a new member of the family and marveled at the softness of Pan's pointed ears but it was Logic who instantly 'clicked' with the godling at first sight. Reason's argent eyes stared at Pan as if she'd been greeted by the sight of a dear old friend, voice soft as she held the divine child who technically fell under her domains due to Dryope's actions. Wit and Sensibility swaddled him together with a tenderness worthy of Rhea.
Clementine then managed to get the queen of Olympus to breastfeed her new charge, mentioning her desire to be named Pan's mother legally. His majesty attempted to urge his granddaughter to simply foster him, stating that claiming a clearly divine child could damage her reputation, especially one who made Hephaestus look handsome. The golden Athenide's response was to laugh at the suggestion she would be repudiated for doing what Thetys had done for Hephaestus and Adrasteia had done for Zeus. She then jested to her step-grandmother on the absurdity of women being seen badly for wanting to be mothers, causing Hera and the rest of the queen's retinue to join in Arsinoe's laughter. Her wish was granted, thus marking Pan as 'the first kit' of Lady Compromise and later giving Arsinoe the epithet 'Mother of Satyrs'.
Here the artist portrays the moment before the Thunderer grants Reason her boon. An inherent privilege is shown immediately at the fact she's allowed a seat in the king's room instead of kneeling. She has come with no decorations or richly colored robes to highlight her humility in comparison to Olympus, the only 'treasure' is the gold of her hair which is modestly held. And garnet red lips hosting perfect ivory teeth open in laughter. Logic's legs are crossed in recognition of her unblemished virtue.
The chair she sits on depicts an offering, thus representing the mortals in her service who presented Horkios with sweet incense and seasoned meat to leave him more inclined to decide in favor of their patroness. A small statue of Pan stands on the table, arms raised in jubilous anticipation of dancing with his mother when she returns. In between Nature and Family are carnations, the flowers of the gods due to the fact their scientific name Dianthus derives from the Greek words dìos, which means divine, and ànthos, which means flower, therefore, dianthus literally means divine flower. White for fidelity and good fortune, pink for maternal affection and red for the beauty Pan and Arsinoe see in each other.
Real painting name is 'Laughing Girl' by Raffaello Sorbi made in 1882.
After procastinating and alot of backpain i finally finish the design for the star sanses in my own universe- writings-? Idk! I feel cringe! But to be cringe is to be free i guess-
So many whoo- here’s the design for Cozyverse-a slice of life silly au where Dream(Willow) and Nightmare(Rosemary) are Gods that decided to live among the mortals because they got- bored of the boring immortal life! And then Willow kinda got himself in some crazy cartoony situation as he tries to fit in with others
MY SILLYLINGS MUAHS!
-Delphi: he’s a kinda famous vlogger on social media, and lives with his brother who owns a Record/CD shops, he likes movies, comics, and alot of nerdy stuff, he’s Willow and Rosemary’s neighbour and usually pulls Willow into enjoying life
- Coraline: Coraline is the owner of an art supplies shop in another street, They’re Delphi’s friend since high school. Coraline is your typical weird quirky friend, (that’s how him and Delphi became friend) and they likes spooking people, going shopping, drawing and annoying the owner of a tailor store across the street from him
- Willow: He’s a God, yeah…but he absolutely hates the lifestyle in the immortal realm so he convinced his brother to leaves the realm and lives among mortals. He’s kind and friendly but kinda awkward and shy because he doesn’t know how to fit in yet- unfortunately bro got paired with the two idiots that often pulls him into unfortunate events-, he still loves his friends despite them almost getting him scolded by his brother several times
As you amazing people patiently wait for Issue 3, I'm proud to introduce my first entry into an ongoing art series, "Ghostbusters: On Hold", providing you with a "Slice of AFTERlife" (pun intended) look at the Ghostbusters day to day activities and private lives when they're not chasing some undead spooks around New York.
Yotsuba!
