peter was beginning to wear himself thin. from the growing needs of his daughter to the ever-growing pile of court documents, he, for once in his life, was tired. that, though, was something he was unwilling to admit. even after being on the urge of losing a case he was fighting against one of his friends.
he and kuron had gone to law school together, where they had each proved to excel at what they did. they studied together, showed up to class together, and finished exams at nearly the same time -- and well, peter knew just how talented kuron was. however, being in the courtroom as the man's opponent proved to be a lot more difficult than peter anticipated.
not only were their wits matched, but they each fought with such a fierce determination that any time one of the made a point, the other was easily able to refute it. the cycle seemed to have continued for hours until they were finally dismissed. despite this, their tense legal battles didn't stop them from getting the occasional drink.
so, they'd agreed to meet at a local bar and discuss anything but work. by the time kuron showed up, peter already had a drink in him and had a lopsided grin on his face. "i know we said no courtroom talk tonight but this individual has proven themselves to be unreliable and their testimony is profoundly flawed? i have no choice but to applaud you for that one. you stole the show, truly."
