EDWARD LORENZ (1917 - 2008)
was an American mathematician and meteorologist (who happened to be born on the same day as me, May 23rd!) who was developing a computer program to predict weather patterns.
Despite his extensive work, the program would produce wildly different predictions each time it was ran. He found the issue was due to a mistake with rounding the 8th decimal.
