I love writing Slider’s mannerisms.
The way he squints his eyes before the smile paints his face. Is he observing the surroundings before he can let his vigilance loose? For whom? Himself? Those who he loves?
His lashes frame each pattern of his eyes like a tailored corset; the lighter shade of brown of his lashes reminds me of the delicacy of crafted garments, laces, silks…confining him in some parts, stroking him and letting him go in other parts. The former being his sense of duty, the latter being those who are attracted to him.
Perhaps the perfect complement to the tempting, yet fragile deity is his chiseled face. His nose, in particular, is quite prominent and pronounced. Wherever the flicker of his lashes etches delicate lines of shadows on his cheekbones—as if to perfect the portrait of a man with a sharpened pencil, or to leave another blossom on the campus with a needle—the shadow is casted on the bridge of his nose, drawing a much stronger line on his face.
A canvas, a blackboard, the silk base of the garment…that allow us to see both the changing and the consistent. His anchoring features, as well as his more fleeting parts, enhance his captivating appearance. Inside of his hazel eyes, there lies a glint of vigilance. Would you caress your fingers at the end of the ribbons to keep him as your own, or would you rather choose to be lost in the strength of his?
I regard Slider to be an absolute beauty.
