I never saw this theory get mentioned, so just throwing it out there.
Kinger and Queenie were both Chess Pieces, and assumedly came into the circus together. We can take ths to impky that people who know each ther in real life have forms that reflect that.
Ribbit and Jax are the only ones who have cartoonish animal forms. Even the designs feel similar, even if not exactly the same. Like they were meant to be in a group?
So my theory is that Ribbit is someone Jax knew in real life. She was important to him, even if he can't remember why. That's why remembering her seems to trigger his abstraction, because it's the closest he'll let himself be human.
