What helps you get in character while writing?
There are a number of things I do when I’m preparing to respond to a thread, but the biggest would have to be listening to music. I’ve devised a sort of playlist for each character I write, soundtrack music or songs that might relate to my character’s current situation being an excellent way to get me pumped and eager to get into the zone. Sometimes if I need a little pick me up for Clint, it’s easy enough to pop open a Hawkeye comic or sit back and rewatch one of the Avenger films.
All in all, I’ll never just ‘fudge’ a character response. If I’m not feeling my muse, I’ll hold off on replying until I do what I need to to get back into the correct mindset.
